Product Description

The Player’s Choice for Tone and Comfort

There’s a reason the 000-18 is a stone-cold classic. It’s the perfect blend of warmth, clarity, and player-focused design that feels like an old friend from the first strum. The combination of a solid Sitka Spruce top and genuine Mahogany back and sides delivers that dry, woody, and articulate tone that records like a dream and sits perfectly in any mix. Martin’s scalloped X-bracing allows the top to breathe and resonate freely, giving this compact Auditorium-sized guitar a shocking amount of punch and dynamic range.

Engineered for Performance

The neck is where this guitar truly sings. Martin’s Modified Low Oval profile with the High-Performance Taper is a modern player’s dream—fast, comfortable, and consistent all the way up the ebony fingerboard. The shorter 24.9″ scale length makes bends feel a little slinkier and gives the overall tone a warmth and bloom that’s incredibly inspiring. It’s a neck that just begs you to play for hours on end.

Timeless Style

From the Aging Toner on the spruce top to the Old Style 18 appointments and open-gear tuners, this 000-18 has an understated, vintage-inspired elegance. It’s a workhorse guitar that looks as good as it sounds, built with the legendary dovetail neck joint for a lifetime of stability and resonance. It’s everything you need, and nothing you don’t—a pure, tone-first instrument for the discerning musician.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Fingerstyle • Folk • Blues • Singer-Songwriter

Tone

  • Warm, woody, and dry with a strong fundamental focus from the mahogany body.
  • Crisp, clear highs and a punchy attack from the Sitka spruce top.
  • Incredibly balanced across the tonal spectrum, making it ideal for recording.
  • Responds beautifully to a light touch for fingerstyle, but has enough headroom for moderate strumming.

Playing Feel

  • The 000-14 Fret body size is comfortable to hold, whether standing or sitting.
  • The Modified Low Oval neck with a High-Performance Taper is fast and effortless.
  • The shorter 24.9" scale length reduces string tension for a slinkier, more relaxed feel.
  • The satin neck finish is smooth and friction-free, even during long sessions.

Versatility

  • Excels at nuanced, articulate styles like fingerpicking and solo acoustic work.
  • Its balanced voice sits perfectly in a mix without overwhelming other instruments.
  • A phenomenal recording guitar due to its clarity and lack of excessive boominess.
  • While not a bluegrass cannon, it handles strumming with vocal accompaniment beautifully.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The 000 is a smaller, more compact body than a Dreadnought. This makes it incredibly comfortable to play, especially when sitting. Tonally, it’s more focused and balanced, with less of the booming bass you’d get from a Dreadnought, which makes it a favorite for recording artists and fingerstyle players.
That shorter scale length does two wonderful things. First, it reduces the tension of the strings, making the guitar feel ‘slinkier’ and easier to play—bends are easier, and fretting requires a lighter touch. Second, it contributes to the guitar’s warmth and tonal bloom, giving notes a rounder, fuller character.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
