A Golden Anniversary of Thump
To celebrate 75 years of iconic Fender design, the Custom Shop decided to create something truly special, a bass that honors its roots while pushing the sonic envelope. This 75th Anniversary Telecaster Bass is a masterclass in thoughtful design, blending the classic slab body feel with a potent, versatile pickup combination that delivers decades of low-end history in one incredible instrument.
Custom Shop Tone Machine
The heart of this bass is its unique electronics package. In the neck, a Novak Tele Bass Fat Wind pickup serves up thick, warm, and articulate tones with a beautiful bloom to each note. It has that old-school thump, but with an extra dose of muscle. For the bridge, the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop went to work, creating a ’51 P-Bass Stack that delivers all the bark and gritty punch of the original single-coil, but leaves the 60-cycle hum behind. The ’60s Jazz Bass stacked concentric knobs give you independent volume and tone for each pickup, opening up a huge palette of sounds from deep dub to aggressive rock.
Vintage Feel, Journeyman Vibe
Picking this bass up just feels right. The quartersawn maple neck is carved into a ’55 P-Bass Soft “V” profile, a substantial and incredibly comfortable shape that feels broken-in from the first note. The 7.25″ radius maple fingerboard and medium-tall frets complete the vintage-inspired playing experience. The Ash body, finished in a stunning Super Faded Shoreline Gold Journeyman Relic lacquer, feels like a treasured instrument that’s seen its share of stages, resonant and alive in your hands.
