A Tele with a Twist
This isn’t just another Telecaster. This is a meticulous recreation of a very specific, short-lived, and now highly-sought-after piece of Fender history. The Fender Custom Shop 1958 Top-Load Telecaster brings back a unique design choice that changed the feel and voice of the instrument. The top-load bridge, where strings anchor at the back of the bridge plate instead of through the body, gives the strings a slinkier feel with a bit less tension, and it subtly alters the guitar’s attack and resonance. It’s a true player’s piece, with a vibe and sound all its own.
The Perfect ’57 “V” Neck
The neck is where the magic happens, and this one is pure vintage comfort. The 1-piece quartersawn maple neck is carved into the beloved 1957 Soft “V” profile. It’s got just enough heft to feel substantial in your hand, providing a solid foundation for chords and digging in, while the soft V shape is famously comfortable, especially for players who wrap their thumb over the top. Paired with a modern 9.5″ radius and narrow-tall frets, you get the best of both worlds: a classic feel with modern playability that makes big bends a breeze.
Hand-Wound ’58 Snap and Growl
At the heart of this Tele is a pair of Custom Shop Hand-Wound ’58 Single-Coil Tele pickups. These are the real deal, crafted to deliver the authentic twang, sparkle, and grit that made the Telecaster a legend. The bridge pickup has all the cut and bite you need to slice through a mix, while the neck pickup is warm, glassy, and articulate. The 2-piece select ash body provides the perfect resonant foundation, ensuring every note has that classic Tele snap and bloom. The Journeyman Relic finish gives it the look and feel of a guitar that’s been loved and played for decades, with every check and ding telling a story.
