Product Description

A Tele with a Tremor and a Twist

This isn’t your granddaddy’s Telecaster, unless your granddaddy was a certified rock-and-roll mad scientist. The Fender Custom Shop LTD Ocelot Telecaster is a masterclass in hybrid design, taking the iconic Tele platform and injecting it with some serious sonic attitude and expressive potential. The resonant, lightweight Roasted Ash body is finished in a stunning Aged Copper, given the Journeyman Relic treatment for that perfect broken-in feel. But the real story here is the inspired combination of a Lollar Soapbar P-90 and a mini-humbucker, paired with a Jazzmaster tremolo. It’s a Tele that growls, shimmers, and dives like no other.

Sonic Versatility on Tap

The pickup combination is where the Ocelot truly earns its name. In the neck, a Lollar Low Wind Soapbar P-90 delivers that beloved single-coil character, but with more warmth, clarity, and dynamic range. It’s got the grit and midrange punch you expect from a P-90, but with a sweeter top end. Switch to the bridge, and the Lollar mini-humbucker gives you a tighter, more focused attack with less low-end mud than a full-sized humbucker, perfect for cutting through a mix with articulate drive. The dual-stack controls keep the profile clean while offering a full range of tones, making this one of the most versatile T-styles to ever leave the Custom Shop.

Player-Focused Feel

Every detail of this guitar is built for performance. The neck is carved from a single piece of 5/4 quartersawn maple, shaped into a supremely comfortable 1957 Style Soft “V” profile. This profile fills the hand beautifully without getting in the way of fast passages. The 9.5″ radius maple fingerboard and 21 narrow-tall frets offer a perfect modern-vintage compromise, allowing for easy chording and choke-free bends. Add the expressive wobble and dive of the RSD J-Bridge and Jazzmaster tremolo, and you have an instrument that responds to every nuance of your playing.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Indie Rock • Blues • Garage Rock • Alternative

Tone

  • The bridge Lollar mini-humbucker delivers a tight, focused tone with plenty of bite and clarity, cutting through without the muddiness of a full-size humbucker.
  • The neck Lollar Soapbar P-90 is warm and full, with enhanced clarity and dynamic range from its low-wind design, offering classic P-90 growl with added articulation.
  • The middle position offers a unique, hum-canceling blend of punch and chime, perfect for rhythm work that needs to stand out.
  • Extremely responsive to pick attack, cleaning up beautifully with a lighter touch and snarling when you dig in.

Playing Feel

  • The roasted ash body is lightweight and resonant, providing excellent balance and comfort.
  • The '57 Soft "V" neck profile feels substantial and comfortable, while the 9.5" radius and narrow-tall frets make for effortless bending and vibrato.
  • The Jazzmaster tremolo system is smooth and stable, allowing for everything from subtle shimmers to deep dives with reliable tuning.
  • This is a guitar built for long sessions, with a broken-in Journeyman Relic finish that feels like an old friend right out of the case.

Versatility

  • Goes from glassy cleans to gritty overdrive with just your volume knob. The pickup combo handles everything from low-gain blues to high-gain rock.
  • A fantastic pedal platform. The clarity of the pickups ensures your drive, modulation, and time-based effects sound defined and musical.
  • In the studio, this guitar is a secret weapon, capable of covering classic Tele, Les Paul, and even Jazzmaster tones in a single instrument.
  • Sits perfectly in a dense mix, with the bridge pickup's focus and the neck pickup's warmth carving out their own sonic space.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The Ocelot is a whole different animal. The biggest departures are the Lollar P-90/mini-humbucker pickup combination and the Jazzmaster-style tremolo bridge. This setup gives you a much wider and wilder tonal palette than a traditional Tele, with more growl, warmth, and the ability to add expressive vibrato.
It’s an incredibly versatile pairing. The Lollar P-90 in the neck is fat and clear, great for soulful leads and chunky rhythms. The Lollar mini-humbucker in the bridge is tight, articulate, and has a great rock-and-roll snarl without being harsh. Together, they offer a rich, textured sound that works for almost any genre.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
