A Tele with a Tremor and a Twist
This isn’t your granddaddy’s Telecaster, unless your granddaddy was a certified rock-and-roll mad scientist. The Fender Custom Shop LTD Ocelot Telecaster is a masterclass in hybrid design, taking the iconic Tele platform and injecting it with some serious sonic attitude and expressive potential. The resonant, lightweight Roasted Ash body is finished in a stunning Aged Copper, given the Journeyman Relic treatment for that perfect broken-in feel. But the real story here is the inspired combination of a Lollar Soapbar P-90 and a mini-humbucker, paired with a Jazzmaster tremolo. It’s a Tele that growls, shimmers, and dives like no other.
Sonic Versatility on Tap
The pickup combination is where the Ocelot truly earns its name. In the neck, a Lollar Low Wind Soapbar P-90 delivers that beloved single-coil character, but with more warmth, clarity, and dynamic range. It’s got the grit and midrange punch you expect from a P-90, but with a sweeter top end. Switch to the bridge, and the Lollar mini-humbucker gives you a tighter, more focused attack with less low-end mud than a full-sized humbucker, perfect for cutting through a mix with articulate drive. The dual-stack controls keep the profile clean while offering a full range of tones, making this one of the most versatile T-styles to ever leave the Custom Shop.
Player-Focused Feel
Every detail of this guitar is built for performance. The neck is carved from a single piece of 5/4 quartersawn maple, shaped into a supremely comfortable 1957 Style Soft “V” profile. This profile fills the hand beautifully without getting in the way of fast passages. The 9.5″ radius maple fingerboard and 21 narrow-tall frets offer a perfect modern-vintage compromise, allowing for easy chording and choke-free bends. Add the expressive wobble and dive of the RSD J-Bridge and Jazzmaster tremolo, and you have an instrument that responds to every nuance of your playing.
