The Best of Both Worlds—P-Bass Thump Meets J-Bass Growl
This isn’t your average P-Bass. This is a hot-rodded, Custom Shop beast that delivers a thunderous low-end punch with the articulate cut of a J-Bass, all wrapped in a beautifully aged black finish that feels like it’s seen a thousand gigs. The Fender Custom Shop team nailed the vibe on this Limited Edition ’59 Precision Bass Special, creating a versatile workhorse with the soul of a vintage classic. From the moment you pick it up, the Relic finish and worn-in feel make it feel like an old friend—one that’s ready to lay down the law on any stage or in any studio.
Hand-Wound for Authentic Vintage Tone
The heart of this bass is its powerful and versatile pickup combination. In the neck position, a Hand-Wound ’57 P-Bass pickup delivers that iconic, fat, round tone that has anchored countless hit records. It’s pure, foundational bottom-end with a satisfying bloom to each note. Flip over to the bridge, and the Hand-Wound Vintage J-Bass pickup gives you all the midrange growl and glassy top-end you need to cut through a dense mix. The P-Jazz Bass controls—with dedicated volumes for each pickup and a master tone—put a massive palette of sounds right at your fingertips. Blend them together for a scooped, funky tone or solo them for their distinct vintage voices.
A Neck Built for Speed and Comfort
While the body and tone scream P-Bass, the neck is pure J-Bass bliss. Carved from a solid piece of quartersawn maple, the ’60 J-Bass “U” profile is substantial yet incredibly comfortable, offering a smooth and fast playing experience. The 7.25″ radius maple fingerboard and Medium Jumbo frets provide a classic feel that’s perfect for laying down soulful grooves or executing nimble, melodic runs. The Relic finish on the back of the neck feels buttery and broken-in, eliminating any stickiness and allowing your hand to glide effortlessly up and down the fingerboard.
