Product Description

A Road-Worn Strat with a Fiery Soul

This ain’t your grandpa’s closet classic. This is the Fender Custom Shop LTD Red Hot Stratocaster, and it’s built for the player who wants a guitar that feels like it’s already seen a thousand smoky bars and sold-out stages. From the moment you pick it up, the Super Heavy Relic Dirty White Blonde finish tells a story—this guitar is all about vibe, resonance, and a tone that’s anything but polite.

Underneath that beautifully broken-in nitro finish is a select Ash body, delivering that classic ’50s Strat snap and chime that cuts through a mix with authority. Paired with a stunning AA Flame Maple neck and fingerboard, this guitar has a bright, articulate voice that sings with sustain. The ’59 “D” profile is a dream—substantial enough to really dig in, but comfortable enough for hours of play.

Hot-Rodded for Modern Performance

The heart of this beast is the trio of Hand-Wound Hot Rod Stratocaster pickups. These single-coils are overwound for a punchier, more aggressive midrange and a tighter low end than their vintage counterparts. They push a tube amp into sweet, natural overdrive with ease, but clean up beautifully when you roll back the volume. And with the Vintage Mod #2 wiring, you get a dedicated tone control for the bridge pickup—a player-centric feature that lets you tame the bite without losing clarity.

Relic’d to Perfection

The Super Heavy Relic treatment is more than just cosmetic. It’s about feel. The neck finish is worn smooth, the fingerboard edges are comfortably rolled, and every piece of hardware has the patina of a true vintage instrument. From the aged plastics to the C/S Vintage Stratocaster bridge, every detail has been meticulously crafted by the artisans at the Fender Custom Shop to create an instrument that feels like an old friend from day one.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Blues • Rock • Funk • Country

Tone

  • Bridge pickup delivers a powerful, gritty bite with a tight low end, perfect for driving riffs and searing leads.
  • Neck pickup offers a warm, glassy tone with rich harmonics that's ideal for bluesy bends and articulate rhythm playing.
  • In-between positions (2 & 4) provide that classic Strat "quack" with extra punch and clarity from the hot-rodded pickups.
  • Responds instantly to your picking dynamics, cleaning up nicely with a lighter touch and snarling when you dig in.

Playing Feel

  • The Ash body feels lively and resonant against your body, promising a guitar that's acoustically vibrant.
  • The 1959 "D" neck profile has a comfortable, vintage-inspired feel, while the worn finish makes for smooth, unhindered movement up and down the neck.
  • Narrow Tall frets and a 9.50" radius make for effortless string bending and a modern, playable feel across the entire fretboard.
  • This is a guitar that feels broken-in and ready to go, encouraging long sessions without fatigue.

Versatility

  • Goes from glassy cleans to gritty overdrive with just the guitar's volume knob. The hot pickups add a layer of rock-ready power.
  • Loves pedals. The articulate voice of the ash body and maple neck ensures your drive, modulation, and delay pedals sound clear and defined.
  • A fantastic recording guitar, providing the iconic Strat sound with an extra dose of attitude that sits perfectly in a dense mix.
  • Cuts through the mix without being harsh, thanks to the powerful midrange of the Hot Rod pickups and the dedicated bridge tone control.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Think of them as vintage pickups that spent some time at the gym. They’re wound hotter for higher output, which gives you more punch, a stronger midrange, and a bit more grit when you dig in. They’re perfect for pushing an amp into breakup for blues and rock, but still retain that classic Strat character.
It’s all about comfort and resonance. The heavy aging, especially on the neck, makes it feel like a guitar you’ve been playing for decades—it’s incredibly smooth and fast. The thin nitrocellulose finish also allows the ash body to breathe and resonate more freely, contributing to a loud, lively acoustic tone that translates into a more dynamic electric sound.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
