Product Description

Vintage Soul, Modern Feel—A Wildwood “10” Masterpiece

This isn’t just another Custom Shop Strat. This is a Fender 2020 Wildwood “10” ’61 Stratocaster, a special-run instrument that blends the best of vintage specs with modern playability. Finished in a stunning Ocean Turquoise Thin Skin lacquer, this guitar feels alive and resonant in your hands. It’s a pre-owned piece in good condition, ready to bring its magic to a new home—and it comes with the original hardshell case.

The Wildwood “10” Difference

So, what’s the lowdown on the “Wildwood 10″? It’s all about player-centric upgrades. The most significant is the 10″ fretboard radius—a flatter, more modern feel than the vintage 7.25” spec. This makes for buttery-smooth string bends and a lower action without fretting out. Paired with Narrow Tall (6105) frets, this neck is built for comfort and speed, offering a perfect playground for both chords and soaring leads.

Hand-Wound Tone

The engine of this Strat is a trio of hand-wound Wildwood “10” single-coil pickups. These aren’t your standard-issue pickups; they’re custom-voiced for this series to deliver exceptional clarity, chime, and dynamic range. The bridge pickup has a powerful cut without being harsh, the neck pickup is warm and glassy, and the RWRP middle pickup ensures those in-between positions are hum-free and full of that iconic Strat “quack.” From clean rhythms to screaming solos, these pickups respond to every nuance of your playing.

Authentic ’61 Feel

Beneath the modern tweaks, this guitar is pure 1961. The two-piece Alder body, quarter-sawn Maple neck with a comfortable ’59 “C” profile, and AAA Rosewood slab fretboard are all period-correct. The Thin Skin lacquer finish is buffed to a New Old Stock (NOS) sheen, meaning it looks pristine out of the box but will age and check beautifully over time, just like a true vintage instrument. It’s the perfect marriage of old-school craftsmanship and modern performance.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Blues • Rock • Funk • Pop

Tone

  • Bridge pickup cuts with authority and chime, never sounding thin or brittle.
  • Neck pickup delivers glassy, bell-like tones perfect for soulful leads and lush chords.
  • Positions 2 and 4 offer that classic, hollow "quack" with zero hum thanks to the RWRP middle pickup.
  • Exceptionally responsive to pick attack and volume knob adjustments, cleaning up beautifully.

Playing Feel

  • Well-balanced Alder body feels comfortable standing or sitting.
  • The '59 "C" neck profile offers a substantial but comfortable grip, while the 10" radius and Narrow Tall frets allow for effortless bending.
  • The Thin Skin lacquer finish on the neck has a smooth, broken-in feel that never gets sticky.
  • A highly playable instrument that feels both familiar and refined, perfect for long gigs or studio sessions.

Versatility

  • Shines with clean tones but takes on a beautiful grit and bloom when pushed into overdrive.
  • An excellent pedal platform; it loves fuzz, overdrive, and modulation effects.
  • Records beautifully, providing classic Strat tones that are easy to place in a dense mix.
  • Cuts through the mix on stage without sacrificing warmth or body.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The ‘Wildwood 10’ models are a special run made for Wildwood Guitars, featuring unique specs you won’t find on standard Custom Shop models. The key differences are the 10-inch fretboard radius for easier bending, custom-wound pickups voiced specifically for this series, and often a Thin Skin lacquer finish for enhanced resonance.
It’s a fantastic, middle-of-the-road vintage C shape. It’s got a bit more shoulder to it than a modern slim ‘C’, but it’s not as chunky as some of the early ’50s U-shapes. It fills the hand nicely without feeling cumbersome, making it a great fit for most players.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
