Product Description

Hollowbody Air, Humbucker Punch, PRS Feel In One Guitar

If you have been chasing that sweet spot between a big, breathing hollowbody and the focus of a solidbody, the PRS SE Hollowbody II lands right in the middle. It feels alive in your hands, stays clear and musical at volume, and does it without the boutique price tag.

Figured Maple And Mahogany: Light, Loud, And Effortless To Play

The recipe starts with a hollowbody construction built from 5 ply laminated maple on the top and back with figured maple veneers, wrapped around a mahogany middle. That mix gives you fast, snappy attack from the maple and warm, vocal mids from the mahogany so chords bloom and single notes sing.

Finished in a Tri Color Burst that shows off the figuring, this guitar looks every bit as classy as it sounds. At 6.2 lbs it is the kind of guitar you can wear for a three set gig and forget it is there until you hit that final chord that rings like a piano.

Wide Fat Neck And Ebony Board: Old School Feel, Modern Precision

PRS nailed the neck on this one. The mahogany Wide Fat profile fills your hand just enough to keep your left hand relaxed, but it is carved clean enough to move up and down the neck without a fight. If you like a substantial neck that does not turn into a baseball bat, this hits that sweet spot.

The ebony fingerboard adds a bit of snap and glass to the tone and feels fast and smooth under your fingers. 22 frets with those old school PRS bird inlays give you classic PRS vibe with rock solid intonation and clean bends all the way up the board.

58/15 “S” Pickups: Clear, Big, And Ready For Any Gig

The PRS 58/15 S humbuckers are the secret sauce here. In the hollowbody platform they stay clear and focused, with enough low end to sound full but never muddy. Clean tones have that chiming, almost acoustic quality, and when you lean into them with overdrive they stay articulate instead of turning to fuzz.

The simple control layout keeps you connected to the guitar instead of fighting the knobs. Volume, tone, and a 3 way toggle give you everything from glassy neck pickup jazz lines to tight bridge pickup crunch without overthinking it.

Stage Ready SE Build, Player Approved Details

Hardware is all PRS designed and built to work hard. The adjustable stoptail bridge gives you rock solid tuning and sustain without the hassle, and the PRS tuners and nickel hardware keep everything locked in gig after gig. It ships with .010–.046 strings so it is ready to cover just about any style out of the gate.

This one comes with a PRS gig bag and, as always, the photos you see are the actual guitar you will get. Serial D12756, Tri Color Burst, a very comfortable 6.2 lbs, sitting in our shop ready for the next player who needs a reliable hollowbody workhorse.

Plug it in, hit that first chord, and you will know exactly why so many players live on PRS hollowbodies.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The SE Hollowbody II gives you some of that wide, open character you get from a 335 style guitar, but with the tighter, more focused feel PRS is known for. The laminated maple and mahogany recipe keeps the low end controlled so it does not get boomy, and the 58/15 S pickups stay clearer and more articulate than a lot of stock semi hollow humbuckers. It feels a little lighter and faster under the hands, with that familiar PRS 25″ scale length and Wide Fat neck profile.
You get the acoustic air and resonance of a hollowbody, but the laminated maple construction and PRS design help keep feedback under control. At normal band volumes it stays composed, especially if you are mindful about where you stand relative to the amp. Push it into really high gain and you will need to ride your volume and mute technique like any hollow instrument, but for worship, jazz, blues, and classic rock it behaves really well.
The Wide Fat name can sound intimidating, but in practice it just feels solid and supportive. It has a little more shoulder than a slim C, which keeps your hand relaxed for chords and long sets, but it is not a club. Most players coming from modern Fender or import necks adjust within a few minutes and end up loving how connected it feels to the body and the way it helps sustain.
It is a natural fit for worship and CCM, jazz, blues, soul, and classic rock. Clean tones are big and three dimensional, so it sits beautifully in a mix for ambient parts and chordal work. Add a touch of overdrive and it covers everything from bluesy leads to 70s style rock without getting harsh. If you are playing extreme metal, you will probably want something with hotter pickups and a more solid platform, but for most gigs this will do it all.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
