Product Description

Your New Old Friend

Meet the Martin 000E Retro Plus—a guitar that feels like it’s been your partner for years, right out of the box. Martin took the iconic 000-14 Fret body, a longtime favorite for its balanced voice and comfortable size, and gave it a serious upgrade. The magic starts with a **torrefied Spruce top**, which is thermally aged to replicate the dry, open, and incredibly responsive tone of a well-loved vintage instrument. From the first strum, you get that played-in resonance and harmonic bloom that usually takes decades to develop.

Warm, Focused, and Ready to Record

Paired with the aged top, the **solid Mahogany back and sides** provide the warm, woody midrange and fundamental focus that Martin is famous for. It’s a sound that sits perfectly in a mix, making it a dream for both studio work and stage performance. The scalloped X-bracing underneath allows the top to breathe and vibrate freely, giving you impressive projection and a dynamic response that captures every nuance of your playing—from delicate fingerpicking to hard strumming.

Modern Playability, Classic Vibe

The neck is where classic feel meets modern performance. The **High-Performance Taper and PA Profile** create a comfortable, fast-playing experience that feels just right, whether you’re chording down low or soloing up high. And for when you’re ready to plug in, the onboard **LR Baggs Element electronics** deliver a natural, transparent acoustic tone that’s ready for any PA system or amplifier. It’s everything you love about a classic Martin, built for the modern player.

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Torrefaction is a special process where the wood is heated in a controlled environment to age it. Sonically, it breaks down the resins and mimics the cellular structure of decades-old wood. The result is a guitar that sounds open, loud, and incredibly responsive right away—you get a ‘vintage’ tone without the 50-year wait.
The 000 body is a bit smaller and more compact than a dreadnought, with a tighter waist. This generally produces a more balanced and focused tone with less booming bass. It’s often preferred by fingerstyle players for its clarity and articulation, and it’s also physically more comfortable for many players to hold.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
