Product Description

The Player’s Choice for Tone and Comfort

There’s a reason the 000-28 is a cornerstone of the Martin lineup—it’s a masterclass in balance, tone, and feel. This isn’t just a guitar; it’s a creative partner. The Auditorium body size delivers a focused, articulate voice that’s perfectly suited for fingerstyle players and studio work, yet it has enough punch for a spirited strumming session. The classic combination of a solid Spruce top and solid East Indian Rosewood back and sides produces that iconic Martin sound: deep, resonant bass, shimmering highs, and a universe of rich overtones.

Vintage Heart, Modern Feel

Under the hood, Martin’s scalloped X-bracing allows the top to vibrate freely, creating a responsive and dynamic playing experience with sustain that just goes for days. The top is finished in a gorgeous Aging Toner, giving it the warm, amber glow of a well-loved vintage instrument. Paired with classic appointments like bold herringbone top inlay and antique white binding, it’s a guitar that looks as timeless as it sounds.

Effortless Playability

The neck is where this guitar truly connects with the player. The GE Modified Low Oval profile with a High-Performance Taper is a dream to play—it’s substantial enough to grab onto for chords but sleek enough for complex passages. Combined with a shorter 24.9″ scale length, the string tension feels supple and buttery under your fingers, making it incredibly comfortable for long sessions. From the first chord, you’ll understand why generations of musicians have built their sound on the Martin 000-28.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Great question. The 000, or Auditorium, body is smaller and more curved than a big, boomy Dreadnought. Tonally, this gives it a more focused and balanced sound with less booming bass, which is why fingerstyle players and recording engineers love it. It’s also physically more comfortable for many players to hold.
Think of it like this: by carefully scooping out wood from the internal braces, the top is able to vibrate more freely. This translates directly to more volume, a quicker response, and richer low-end and sustain. It’s a key part of what makes this guitar sound so alive.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
Call us at (888) 794-8482. You’ll talk to a real musician who can answer anything you need to know.
