MOORE GUITARS PRESENTS

THE LEGEND

The Acoustic That Thinks It’s a Stack of Marshalls

The Who — “Pinball Wizard”Oasis — “Wonderwall” (Live)Elvis Presley — Every major stage he ever walked on.

In 1937, Gibson looked at the acoustic guitar market and decided to build a tank. They created the Super Jumbo-200, and for nearly a century, it has earned its nickname: “The King of the Flat-Tops.”

Why is it a legend? Because before PA systems were good, you needed volume. You needed a guitar that could fight a drum kit and win.

When you hear that furious, driving acoustic rhythm on The Who’s “Pinball Wizard”? That is the percussive snap of an SJ-200. When you see Elvis or Bob Dylan holding court on stage, they aren’t holding small auditorium guitars. They are holding the SJ-200.

It is the sound of authority. It is the sound of a frontman who knows exactly who is in charge.

THE ALCHEMY

Why It Sounds Like a Piano

The SJ-200 is massive (17 inches wide), but here is the paradox: It isn’t “boomy.” It is incredibly focused.

The Maple Magic

Most big guitars use Rosewood, which creates a deep, dark wash of sound. The SJ-200 uses Flame Maple back and sides. Maple is dense and reflective. It takes all that air moving inside the massive body and shoots it out like a cannon. The result is a tone that is loud, but surgically clear.

The Moustache Bridge

That iconic bridge isn’t just for show. It adds mass to the top, which increases sustain. When you hit a chord, it doesn’t just ring; it hangs in the air.

The “Wall of Sound”

This is the ultimate strummer. Because of the body size, the bass frequencies are huge, but the Maple keeps them tight. It creates a “Hi-Fi” sound that covers the entire frequency spectrum—deep lows, punchy mids, and glassy highs—all at once.

FROM THE FLOOR

Why Cory Hand-Selected This One

At Moore Guitars, we don’t believe in “stock.” Every guitar has to earn its place on our wall. We passed on others to get to this specific serial number.

Cory from Moore Guitars

“You don’t pick this guitar up; you strap it on like armor.

I grabbed this SJ-200 specifically because of the low E-string. On some Jumbos, the bass can get muddy and woofy. On this one? It sounds like a grand piano. I hit a big G-chord and I swear I could feel the floor vibrate. It projects so hard that you almost don’t need to play it—you just have to hold on.

I checked the neck angle on this one personally because big guitars can be tough to play if the action is off. This one is set up perfectly.

It demands a little bit of swagger to play it right, but man, does it pay off. It’s the boss of the room.”

— Cory, Moore Guitars

THE MOORE GUITARS PROMISE

You are buying from gigging musicians, not a warehouse robot.

We inspected the intricate binding—it’s flawless. We checked the flame on the maple back—it is 3D and stunning. We strummed it hard to ensure the Sitka Spruce top has the headroom to handle heavy hitting without breaking up.

You can buy a guitar for the bedroom, or you can buy a guitar for the stadium. The Gibson SJ-200 isn’t just an instrument; it is a statement piece. It says you have arrived.

Long live the King.

Product Description

The King of the Flat-Tops

There are guitars, and then there are icons. The Gibson SJ-200 is, without a doubt, the latter. Dubbed the “King of the Flat-Tops” for a reason, this Super Jumbo has been the driving force behind the rhythm of legends since 1937, from the singing cowboys of the silver screen to rock royalty like Elvis, Bob Dylan, and Pete Townshend. Its massive voice and undeniable stage presence make it one of the most celebrated acoustic guitars in history. This SJ-200 Original carries that legacy forward, delivering the same room-filling power and exquisite looks that started it all.

The Voice of Thunder

The SJ-200’s legendary tone comes from its Super Jumbo body, crafted with a solid Sitka Spruce top and stunning Flame Maple back and sides. This classic combination is a recipe for tonal perfection. The spruce provides warmth and articulation, while the maple delivers a dry, focused punch and incredible projection. Every chord you strum is massive, with a tight low-end, a clear and present midrange, and highs that shimmer and cut. It’s a sound that can stand alone or anchor an entire band.

Stage-Ready Electronics

While the SJ-200’s acoustic voice is a force of nature, it’s just as impressive when plugged in. It comes equipped with an LR Baggs VTC undersaddle pickup system, designed to translate the guitar’s natural resonance with stunning accuracy. The soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls make it easy to dial in your sound on the fly without detracting from the guitar’s classic aesthetics. It’s a seamless, professional-grade setup for the stage and studio.

Unmistakable Style & Feel

Beyond its sound, the SJ-200 is a masterpiece of design. The 2-piece maple neck with its comfortable Rounded profile feels substantial and solid in your hand, while the smooth rosewood fingerboard is adorned with Mother-of-Pearl Graduated Crown inlays. And of course, it wouldn’t be an SJ-200 without the iconic Four Bar Moustache bridge and ornate floral pickguard. This isn’t just an instrument, it’s a statement.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

It’s all about the body size and woods. The Super Jumbo shape moves a massive amount of air, creating huge volume. The maple back and sides act like a natural amplifier, reflecting the sound with incredible power and clarity, while the Sitka spruce top keeps the tone warm and articulate.
It sounds incredibly natural. The VTC is designed to capture the guitar’s true acoustic voice without that harsh, ‘quacky’ sound you get from some pickups. It’s warm, rich, and responds to your playing dynamics beautifully, making it perfect for both live performance and recording.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
