Product Description

The Real Deal: A ’57 That Delivers

This isn’t just another Les Paul. This is a Gibson Custom Shop M2M (Made to Measure) ’57 Standard, a guitar built with an obsessive eye for detail and a direct connection to the most legendary tones in rock history. The first thing you’ll notice is the stunning Vintage Sunburst top over a solid mahogany body, a classic combination that just screams rock and roll. But the real magic happens when you plug it in.

This beast is loaded with a pair of unpotted Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups. These are the closest you can get to the original PAF tone, delivering an airy, open top end, a rich midrange bloom, and a dynamic response that captures every nuance of your playing. From glassy cleans to a throaty roar, these pickups just deliver the goods, with that sought-after grit and complexity that defined an era.

That Legendary ’50s Feel

Wrap your hand around the neck and you’ll feel it immediately. The 1950’s Chunky “D” profile is a proper handful, just like the originals, offering massive sustain and a solid, comfortable playing feel. Combined with the 1-piece rosewood fingerboard and historic narrow tall frets, you get a buttery-smooth playing experience that feels instantly familiar and inspiring. Every component, from the Kluson Deluxe tuners to the ’59 ABR-1 bridge, is pure vintage spec, ensuring this guitar not only looks and sounds the part, but feels it too.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Blues • Classic Rock • Hard Rock • Southern Rock

Tone

  • Bridge pickup delivers a raw, articulate bite with plenty of cut and harmonic complexity.
  • Neck pickup offers a warm, vocal-like quality with a glassy top end and incredible sustain.
  • The middle position is pure chime and bloom, perfect for rhythm work or nuanced clean tones.
  • Responds beautifully to your pick attack; dig in for aggressive grit or back off for sweet, clean articulation.

Playing Feel

  • Solid and resonant, with the satisfying heft you expect from a non-weight-relieved Les Paul.
  • The chunky '50s neck profile fills the hand comfortably, encouraging big bends and confident fretting.
  • Effortless playability thanks to the narrow tall frets and smooth rosewood fingerboard.
  • This is a guitar that feels like a true extension of the player, built for hours of inspiration.

Versatility

  • Goes from sparkling clean to screaming overdrive just by using the volume and tone knobs.
  • Takes pedals like a champ, providing a rich foundational tone for any drive, fuzz, or modulation.
  • In the studio, it sits perfectly in a mix, providing classic Les Paul power and authority.
  • Cuts through a live band mix with ease, ensuring your tone is always heard.

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Unpotted pickups, like the ones in this ’57, are not saturated in wax. This allows them to be more microphonic and sensitive to vibrations, which adds a whole layer of harmonic complexity and ‘air’ to the tone. It’s a key part of that authentic, early PAF sound, giving you incredible touch-sensitivity and tonal bloom.
It’s a substantial neck, no doubt about it. It really fills your fretting hand, which many players find incredibly comfortable and great for generating leverage for big string bends. If you love the feel of vintage guitars, this neck profile will make you feel right at home. It also contributes to the guitar’s massive sustain.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
