Product Description

Compact ES soul with big stage tone

If you love that airy, blooming ES sound but do not want to wrangle a full size 335 all night, the Gibson ES-339 Figured hits that sweet spot. Same semi hollow magic, tighter footprint, and a figured Sixties Cherry finish that looks every bit as good as it sounds.

ES style semi hollow with figured attitude

The ES 339 takes the classic ES recipe and shrinks it into a more manageable body size. You still get that open, woody resonance and natural acoustic volume, just in a guitar that feels closer to a solidbody against your body and under your picking arm.

The figured top and Sixties Cherry finish give this one a serious stage presence. Under lights it pops, but up close you see the grain and contour that make each one feel like a one off. It is the kind of guitar you keep glancing at on the stand between songs.

Comfortable feel that disappears on the strap

ES 339s are all about comfort. The compact body tucks in tight whether you sit or stand, and the balance on a strap feels natural and relaxed. No shoulder fight, no neck dive, just an easy hanging guitar you can play for three sets straight.

The set neck construction gives you that smooth transition up high, so sliding into the upper frets feels effortless. Chords down low feel solid and grounded, while single note lines up the neck stay controlled and precise.

Classic Gibson tones from clean to cranked

Dual humbuckers and a semi hollow body is a serious winning combo. Clean, you get glassy top end, warm mids, and that little bit of airy bloom around each note that makes chords sound huge without getting muddy.

Push an amp and the ES 339 gets into that chewy, vocal overdrive Gibson fans chase. It sings for blues, snarls for rock, and still cleans up beautifully when you roll the volume back. Real talk, it is one of the most flexible gigging platforms Gibson makes.

Built to gig, set up to inspire

This ES-339 Figured Sixties Cherry is in our Evansville, Indiana shop right now, fully inspected and dialed in. Before it leaves, our techs give it a full Player Perfect setup so it feels broken in from the first chord.

You are not getting a warehouse box drop here. You are getting a carefully checked, stage ready Gibson that is ready to hit rehearsals, sessions, and gigs the day it lands in your hands.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The ES-339 is essentially the compact version of the classic ES-335. You get that same semi-hollow, airy character and bloom, but in a smaller body that feels closer to a solidbody on a strap and against your picking arm. If you love ES tone but find a 335 a little big or bulky, the 339 hits the sweet spot between comfort and classic sound.
The ES-339 handles volume better than a full hollow jazz box. The semi-hollow construction gives you warmth and resonance, but the center block helps keep feedback under control. With sensible stage volume and smart amp placement, you get all the bloom and sustain without runaway squeal. If you really lean into high gain, just be mindful of where you stand in relation to your cab.
Not at all. The ES-339 is smaller than a 335, but the neck, scale, and playing area feel familiar if you have spent time on Gibsons or other full scale electrics. The benefit is that the body tucks in closer and feels less bulky, especially if you are used to solidbodies. Most players actually find it more relaxed and ergonomic for long rehearsals and gigs.
Absolutely. Roll the tone back a bit, pick closer to the neck, and the ES-339 will give you that warm, rounded jazz voice with plenty of clarity for complex chords. Open it up with brighter settings and a touch of gain and it moves straight into blues and classic rock territory. It is one of those guitars that can honestly live on a wide variety of gigs with just a few knob tweaks.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
