Product Description

The Real Deal—A Player’s SG Standard

This 2010 Gibson SG Standard in Ebony isn’t just a guitar; it’s a piece of rock history that’s been broken in and is ready for its next chapter. Built in the USA, it has the battle-tested feel and authentic resonance that only comes from a guitar that’s seen some action. The solid mahogany body delivers that classic SG midrange punch and sustain for days, all wrapped in a timeless Ebony finish that looks killer under stage lights.

Hot-Rodded Humbucker Heart

The engine room of this SG is its potent combo of a 490R humbucker in the neck and a 498T in the bridge. The 490R, with its Alnico II magnet, serves up warm, buttery neck tones that are perfect for soulful leads or thick, articulate rhythms. Flip to the 498T, and you unleash a hotter, Alnico V-driven beast with a raw, aggressive bite that cuts through any mix. It’s a versatile pairing that’s built to handle everything from bluesy grit to full-throttle rock.

Effortless Playability

From the first chord, the SG Rounded neck profile feels like an old friend. It’s substantial enough for a solid grip on chords but still nimble enough for fast runs up and down the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The 12″ radius is a perfect middle ground for both bending strings and comfortable chording, and thanks to the Gibson PLEK system, the setup is dialed in for incredible precision right out of the case. This is a guitar that just gets out of your way and lets you play.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Classic Rock • Hard Rock • Blues • Alternative

Tone

  • Bridge pickup delivers a hot, aggressive punch with a raw, gritty top end—perfect for driving riffs.
  • Neck pickup offers a smooth, warm, and vocal tone with classic Alnico II character for fat leads.
  • The middle position blends the two for a full-bodied rhythm sound that balances warmth and bite.
  • Responds beautifully to your volume knob, cleaning up from a roar to a purr without losing definition.

Playing Feel

  • Lightweight and perfectly balanced, the iconic SG body shape is comfortable for hours of playing.
  • The SG Rounded neck profile offers a substantial yet fast feel, ideal for both rhythm and lead work.
  • The double-cutaway design provides effortless access to all 22 frets.
  • A true workhorse guitar that feels solid and reliable, ready for the stage or the studio.

Versatility

  • Excels at high-gain tones but cleans up nicely for blues and classic rock.
  • Takes fuzz, overdrive, and distortion pedals like a champ, pushing them into rich saturation.
  • Its focused midrange and articulate attack make it a fantastic recording guitar.
  • Cuts through a dense band mix with authority, ensuring your riffs are always heard.

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

This set is definitely hotter and more aggressive than a traditional PAF. The 498T in the bridge has more output and a stronger upper-midrange bite, making it perfect for hard rock and modern styles. The 490R in the neck is smoother but still has plenty of clarity. It’s a great setup if you want classic Gibson feel with a bit more power under the hood.
We’ve rated this SG in ‘Good’ condition. It’s been played and loved, so you’ll find signs of use, but it’s structurally sound and plays beautifully. It has that comfortable, broken-in feel that so many players look for. Plus, it comes with the original Gibson hardshell case.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
