Product Description

Modern Power, Legendary Feel

This 2019 Stingray Special HH is a straight-up beast of a bass, packing all the iconic punch Music Man is known for, but with a whole new level of refinement. Dressed in a killer Charcoal Sparkle finish, this pre-owned bass is in excellent shape and ready to lay down the low end. The real magic starts when you feel the neck—a select roasted maple neck with a gunstock oil and hand-rubbed wax finish. It’s impossibly smooth, ridiculously fast, and feels like an old friend from the first note.

Thunder Under the Hood

The heart of this Stingray is its dual neodymium humbucking pickups, powered by an 18-volt active preamp. This setup gives you an incredible amount of clean headroom and a massive tonal palette. You get all the signature Stingray growl and cut, but with more output and a wider frequency response. Whether you need vintage warmth or modern, aggressive punch, the 3-band EQ lets you sculpt your sound with surgical precision.

Total Tonal Control

This isn’t your average one-trick pony. The 5-way lever switch unlocks a whole spectrum of sounds. Position one gives you the full bridge humbucker for that classic, biting Stingray tone that cuts through any mix. Flip to the neck for a warmer, rounder boom. The in-between positions offer glassy, funky tones by splitting the coils, giving you everything from tight, focused snap to wide-open humbucking roar. Combined with the sculpted neck joint for effortless access to all 22 stainless steel frets, this bass is built for serious players who demand versatility.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Think of them as higher-output, broader-range versions of classic pickups. Neodymium magnets provide more power and a wider frequency response, which the 18V preamp translates into massive headroom. You get more punch, more clarity, and a greater ability to shape your tone without noise—from deep, rich lows to articulate highs.
Roasting the maple (a process called torrefaction) removes moisture and cures the wood, making it incredibly stable against changes in humidity. For you, that means fewer truss rod adjustments. Tonally, it adds a touch of vintage warmth and resonance. But the real win is the feel—it’s just supremely smooth and comfortable, especially with Music Man’s hand-rubbed oil and wax finish.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
