50s Les Paul soul with a figured top and modern reliability
If you have always wanted that 50s Les Paul growl without emptying your savings, this one hits that sweet spot. Mahogany and maple give you the classic recipe, the Probucker humbuckers bring the bite, and the figured top in Washed Cherry Sunburst looks way more expensive than the price tag.
This is Epiphone’s take on a 1950s style Les Paul Standard, built with a solid mahogany body, maple cap with AAA flame maple veneer, a bound 1959 Rounded Medium C neck, and that Kalamazoo headstock vibe. CTS pots, 50s style wiring, and a Graph Tech nut keep it feeling and sounding like a real instrument, not just a budget knockoff.
Mahogany body punch with a AAA flame maple cap
The core of the tone is a mahogany body with a maple cap, topped with a AAA flame maple veneer. You get that thick, singing midrange that Les Pauls are famous for, with the maple adding snap, definition, and a little extra cut when the band gets loud.
The Washed Cherry Sunburst gloss finish lets the flame jump out under stage lights, while the single ply cream binding around the top ties it all together. It looks like a classic hanging on the wall, but feels ready to hit the stage right now.
1959 Rounded Medium C neck that feels like home
The 1959 Rounded Medium C neck is substantial without being a baseball bat. It fills your hand just enough so you can dig in for bends and vibrato, but it will not wear you out on long sets.
A 12 inch radius laurel fingerboard and 22 medium jumbo frets make bends feel buttery and chords stay clean up and down the neck. The long tenon set neck construction helps the whole guitar ring as one piece, and the Graph Tech nut keeps tuning smooth and stable through big bends and aggressive picking.
Probucker humbuckers with real 50s style wiring
The Probucker 1 in the neck and Probucker 2 in the bridge are Epiphone’s love letter to vintage PAF style pickups. The neck is warm and round without getting muddy, perfect for bluesy lines and big, singing leads. The bridge brings the grind, with enough bite and grit to handle classic rock and hard rock without turning harsh.
CTS potentiometers and 50s wiring are the secret sauce. Roll your volume back and the tone stays open and clear instead of turning to mud, so you can live on the controls and go from glassy clean to saturated crunch just with your hands and the knobs. Real talk, that is the stuff players usually pay to upgrade later.
Hardware that keeps up with the gig
The Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop bar tailpiece lock into place for better sustain and tuning stability. It feels solid under your picking hand and keeps intonation locked in, even if you lean into heavy right hand attack.
Epiphone Vintage Deluxe tuners with nickel hardware complete the classic look and hold tune like they should. Cream pickguard, mounting rings, switch tip, and jack plate give it that vintage correct vibe, and it ships with a premium gig bag so it is ready to leave the house from day one.
