Korina Flying V Attitude With Real 1958 Soul

The Epiphone 1958 Korina Flying V is what happens when Gibson Custom Shop gets involved and decides everyone should have a shot at a truly great V, not just collectors. Real Korina, real Burstbuckers, real vintage vibe, at a price you can actually take on stage.

This specific guitar, serial 23111523536, clocks in at just 6.6 lbs and is the exact one you see in the photos. It is light in weight, big in resonance, and built to live in the real world instead of behind glass.

Real Korina, Real Vintage Resonance

Korina is the secret sauce behind those mythical late 50s Gibsons. This solid Korina body and Korina neck combo gives you that airy midrange, quick attack, and a singing top end that blooms as notes sustain. The aged gloss finish lets the wood do its thing instead of choking it under thick plastic.

At 6.6 lbs, this V hits that sweet spot where it feels almost weightless on a strap but still has enough mass for punch and sustain. Plug it in, hit a big open chord, and you can feel the whole guitar come alive against your chest.

Burstbucker Firepower With Tight Control

Gibson Burstbucker 2 in the neck and Burstbucker 3 in the bridge is a serious combo. The neck pickup is warm and buttery without turning to mud, perfect for glassy cleans and vocal lead lines. The bridge pickup has that classic PAF grit with extra cut, ideal for classic rock crunch and early metal tones.

Individual volume controls and a master tone with CTS pots and a Mallory cap give you tons of control right from the guitar. Roll the volumes back for clear, articulate cleans, or dime everything and let the Burstbuckers push your amp into glorious grind. The Switchcraft selector and jack keep everything rock solid night after night.

1958 Flying V Neck That Feels Broken In

The 1958 Flying V neck profile feels substantial without being a baseball bat. It fills your hand just enough to keep you relaxed and connected to the guitar. The 12 inch Indian laurel fingerboard and medium jumbo frets make bends feel buttery and chords ring clean across the board.

The glued-in, long tenon neck joint is not just a vintage spec; it is a tone move. You get better sustain, stronger resonance, and upper fret access that makes this V feel like a weapon all the way up the neck.

Gold Hardware With Rock Solid Performance

A gold ABR-1 style bridge and gold plated brass Flying V string plate tailpiece keep things firmly anchored without strangling the tone. The Epiphone Deluxe tuners hold pitch with zero drama, even if you lean hard into bends or big rock vibrato.

From the 4-ply white and black pickguard to the gold pickup covers, black rings, and black top hat knobs with nickel pointers, this guitar looks as mean as it sounds. It is that perfect mix of vintage-correct and stage-ready.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

This is about as close as you are going to get without dropping vintage-level money. It is built in partnership with the Gibson Custom Shop, with a solid Korina body and neck, long neck tenon, 1958 Flying V neck profile, and genuine Gibson Burstbucker 2 and 3 pickups. You also get quality components like CTS pots, a Mallory cap, and Switchcraft switch and jack, plus the Epiphone x Gibson Custom logo and a hardshell case. It is a serious nod to the original, made to be played hard.
Korina has its own thing going on. Compared to mahogany, it is a little lighter and more open sounding, with a fast attack, sweet high end, and focused low end that stays tight under gain. You get tons of resonance and note bloom, which pairs perfectly with the Burstbuckers. Clean, edge-of-breakup, or full crunch, the guitar always feels alive under your hands.
At 6.6 lbs and with proper strap button placement, this V is surprisingly balanced on a strap and does not suffer from the classic neck-dive problem if you use a decent strap. Standing, it feels light and effortless. Sitting, just rest the V between your legs in a more classical position and it locks in comfortably. Once you get used to it, a V can be one of the most ergonomic designs out there.
You are getting the exact Epiphone 1958 Korina Flying V shown in the photos, serial 23111523536, weighing 6.6 lbs. It comes with a fitted hardshell case and all standard paperwork. Before it ships, we give it a full pro setup and triple inspection, so it arrives playing its best and ready for the next gig or session.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
