Product Description

High-Octane So-Cal Shredder With Real-World Playability

The Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 1 HSH FR E is what happens when four decades of hot-rodded Southern California DNA meets modern player demands. It is built for speed, stability, and big, inspiring tones that make you want to play longer than you planned.

If you live on high gain, love expressive trem work, and still need clean, usable tones for the rest of the gig, this one hits that sweet spot.

Alder Body, Satin Finish, And That Robin’s Egg Blue Look

The alder body gives you a balanced core tone with tight lows, punchy mids, and enough top end to cut without getting harsh. It is the classic recipe that just works through any amp or modeler.

The satin Robin’s Egg Blue finish looks slick under stage lights and feels fast against your picking arm. No sticky gloss, just a smooth, broken-in feel that lets the guitar get out of your way and do its job.

Speed Neck, Ebony Board, And Compound Radius Comfort

The maple speed neck with rolled fingerboard edges is built for players who like to move. At about 0.770 inches at the first fret and 0.830 at the 12th, it fills your hand without slowing you down, so long sessions stay comfortable.

The ebony fingerboard and 12 to 16 inch compound radius give you the best of both worlds: chords feel natural down low, while big, buttery bends stay clean and buzz free up high. Jumbo frets make legato lines, wide vibrato, and tapped runs feel almost effortless.

Seymour Duncan HSH Power With No-Load Tone Control

This pickup set is a killer combination. Seymour Duncan Distortion humbuckers in the bridge and neck deliver tight, saturated crunch and singing lead sustain, while the Custom Flat Strat SSL-6 in the middle adds glassy, hotter-than-vintage single-coil snap.

The 5-way blade gives you everything from full-bore humbucker roar to articulate split and parallel tones that sit perfectly in a mix. Roll the no-load tone control all the way up and it clicks out of the circuit for a more open, direct-to-amp feel.

Floyd Rose 1000 Stability And Stage-Ready Hardware

The recessed Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking tremolo is built for serious whammy abuse. Locking nut, Floyd Rose retainer bar, and brass block work together so you can dive, flutter, and pull up without fighting tuning.

Charvel branded die-cast tuners, knurled flat-top knobs, side-mounted output jack, and a simple 1-ply white pickguard keep the hardware workhorse reliable and gig ready. Real talk, this is the kind of setup that makes you trust your guitar on stage.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Not at all. Sure, the Seymour Duncan HSH set and Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo make it a natural fit for modern metal and shred, but the alder body and versatile switching give you plenty of usable clean and edge-of-breakup tones too. Think high-energy rock, pop, worship, fusion, and cover band duties where you need one guitar to cover a lot of ground.
The Floyd Rose 1000 Series is designed for serious trem work. With the locking nut, Floyd Rose retainer bar, and brass block, you can dive bomb, flutter, and pull up without the tuning drama you get from cheaper systems. Before it leaves our shop we make sure the bridge is balanced, the nut is properly locked, and everything is dialed so it stays stable when you get aggressive.
When the no-load tone knob is all the way up, it clicks out of the circuit so your signal goes straight from the pickups to the volume and out. That gives you a slightly more open, immediate sound with extra bite and clarity. Roll it back into the circuit and it behaves like a normal tone control, letting you tame highs for warmer rhythm or lead sounds.
The So-Cal speed neck is slim and fast, but not a paper-thin shred stick. At roughly 0.770″ at the first fret and 0.830″ at the 12th, it fills your hand just enough to feel solid while still being effortless for fast runs. The rolled fingerboard edges and satin finish make it feel broken in, so you get that slick, glassy feel without needing years of play wear.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
