Product Description

A Horror Classic, Reborn for Metal

Get ready to channel a legend. This pre-owned ESP LTD KH-WZ is a faithful tribute to Kirk Hammett’s iconic axe, decked out in the haunting graphics from the 1932 horror classic, White Zombie. It’s more than just a guitar; it’s a piece of metal history, built to unleash searing riffs and screaming solos, all while paying homage to the golden age of horror that inspired Kirk himself.

Built for Speed and Aggression

The foundation for sonic mayhem starts with a resonant alder body, providing a strong, clear, full-bodied sound with beefy mids and excellent lows. Paired with a bolt-on, 3-piece maple neck carved into a fast Thin U profile, this guitar is engineered for speed and precision. The Macassar ebony fingerboard offers a super slick playing surface, making complex runs and lightning-fast licks feel effortless under your fingers. With 24 extra-jumbo frets, you get maximum control for wide vibrato and huge string bends.

Shrieking Tone, Total Control

This beast is loaded with a set of EMG Bone Breaker active pickups, designed to deliver the perfect blend of aggression and articulation. You get the crushing power of a ceramic magnet in the bridge and the smooth, Alnico 5 warmth in the neck, all without the mud. A Floyd Rose 1000 locking tremolo system ensures you can dive-bomb and pull-up to your heart’s content without ever slipping out of tune. It’s the ultimate combination for players who demand tight, responsive tone and rock-solid stability.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Thrash Metal • Heavy Metal • Hard Rock • Shred

Tone

The bridge pickup delivers a tight, crushing rhythm tone with plenty of cut and clarity for aggressive riffing.
The neck pickup offers a warm, articulate lead tone that sings with sustain, perfect for fluid solos.
Both pickups engaged provide a scooped, powerful tone that's great for chugging rhythms.
The active EMG electronics provide incredible headroom and a consistent, powerful output no matter how hard you play.

Playing Feel

The alder body is well-balanced, making it comfortable for long sets on stage.
ESP's Thin U neck profile is a shredder's dream, offering a fast, comfortable grip for technical playing.
The Macassar ebony fingerboard is smooth and slick, allowing for effortless string bending and fast fretwork.
This guitar feels solid and ready for aggressive playing, responding instantly to every pick attack.

Versatility

While built for high-gain mayhem, the EMGs clean up nicely with a roll of the volume knob for atmospheric passages.
The active, high-output signal is a perfect platform for pedals, driving overdrives and delays with clarity.
In the studio, this guitar records beautifully, providing a tight, focused tone that's easy to place in a dense mix.
Its aggressive midrange and sharp attack ensure it will always cut through, live or in the studio.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The graphic is the poster art from the 1932 horror film ‘White Zombie,’ starring Bela Lugosi. Kirk Hammett is a massive horror movie fan and collector, and this guitar is a tribute to one of the classics that inspired him. It’s a key part of his signature collection.

The EMG Bone Breakers were designed with Kirk Hammett to offer a new take on the classic active pickup sound. They blend a ceramic magnet in the bridge with an Alnico 5 magnet in the neck, giving you both crushing, percussive rhythm tones and smooth, rounded lead tones in one set. They have a bit more grit and character than some other active pickups.

Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.

This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
