Product Description

Small Body, Huge Voice – Breedlove’s Concertina Powerhouse

If you think smaller-bodied acoustics are all polite and quiet, this Legacy Concertina E is ready to prove you wrong. Solid Sitka on top of solid cocobolo, a 12-fret neck joint, and Breedlove’s Sound Optimization process give this little cannon a voice that sparkles, blooms, and carries.

It is handbuilt in Bend, Oregon, and this exact guitar is the one in the photos and the audio clip. What you see and hear is exactly what will show up at your door.

Solid Sitka Spruce And Cocobolo With Serious Authority

The salvaged solid Sitka spruce top is fine-tuned for the right deflection, so it comes alive under your fingers. You get that familiar Sitka clarity and sweetness on top, with a quick response that makes every nuance count.

Out back, solid cocobolo brings the thunder. Breedlove sands this dense hardwood down using their Sound Optimization process, so you get big, piano-like low end, rich overtones, and surprising volume without the mud. It is the kind of tone that makes you play one more chord just to hear it ring out again.

12-Fret Concertina Comfort That Begs To Be Played

The Concertina body is compact and incredibly comfortable, whether you are on the couch or on stage. Pair that with a 12-frets-to-the-body neck, and the bridge sits in a sweet spot on the top that really wakes the guitar up.

The result is a slinky, inviting feel with fast response and big, focused projection. It is the kind of guitar that makes you want to dig in with enthusiasm, then back off and explore all the subtle, glassy textures it can deliver.

LR Baggs Anthem TRU-Mic – Studio-Grade Plugged-In Sound

Plugged in, the LR Baggs Anthem TRU-Mic system keeps things honest. The mic-centric design captures the real acoustic voice of this Concertina instead of turning it into a quacky piezo impersonation of itself.

On a good PA or acoustic amp, you get the same sparkle, warmth, and cocobolo depth you hear unplugged, with feedback resistance and control that make it a legit stage and studio tool.

Handbuilt In Bend, Oregon

This Legacy Concertina E is crafted in Bend, OR, USA, with the kind of attention to detail you feel the second you pick it up. Honduran mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and Delta bridge, clean black binding, and a Natural Shadow gloss top that sets off the cocobolo beautifully.

It is comfortable to play, a joy to hear, and flat-out beautiful to look at. Breedlove built this as a flagship small-body instrument, and it shows.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Real talk: if you live on big, boomy bluegrass strums only, a dreadnought still wins on sheer air movement. This Legacy Concertina E trades a little of that raw boom for comfort, focus, and clarity. The smaller body and voicing give you tighter low end, punchy mids, and sparkle on top, so fingerstyle patterns and singer-songwriter chords sit beautifully around a vocal instead of fighting it.
A 12-fret design shifts the bridge closer to the center of the lower bout, which is a sweet spot for resonance. You feel a slightly more relaxed playing tension and hear more warmth, bloom, and sustain. On this Concertina, that means big, round fundamentals with plenty of overtones, all in a compact, super comfortable package. It is addictive once you get used to it.
Absolutely. The Anthem TRU-Mic is designed for players who care about real acoustic tone on stage. The mic-focused system captures the natural voice of the Sitka and cocobolo without the harsh, brittle edge you get from many undersaddle pickups. Run it into a good DI or acoustic amp and you get a clear, warm, mix-ready sound that sits right where you want it.
Yes. The pictures are of the actual guitar, and the audio clip is this exact instrument. No stock photos, no mystery lottery. What you see and hear on the product page is what shows up at your door, right down to the wood grain and the way it sings.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
In-stock gear typically ships within 1-2 business days (Mon-Fri). Most orders arrive in 1-4 business days via UPS Ground, depending on your distance from Indiana. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
