There’s a big difference between a guitar that’s “in the box” and a guitar that’s ready to burn.
Most online retailers operate like warehouses. They receive the box from the factory, put a shipping label on it, and send it to you. They never open it. They never touch it.
But wood moves. Humidity changes. And let’s be honest—even high-end brands like Gibson, Fender, and PRS often ship guitars with “safe” (high) action that fights you when you play.
It isn’t just a quick visual inspection.
It’s a full bench service performed by a seasoned tech who plays gigging-level gear.
If you walked into a reputable luthier’s shop and asked for this service, it would cost you $80 to $100, maybe more.
Cost to you: $0
We include it free because we refuse to sell a guitar that doesn't play its absolute best.
Every Player-Perfect™ setup covers four critical areas—the same checklist a touring pro would hand their tech before a show.
(Playability)
We don’t accept “factory tolerance.” We dial the bridge and saddle heights into the sweet spot—low enough for effortless speed, but clean enough to let the notes bloom without buzzing out. You shouldn’t have to wrestle the neck to hold a barre chord.
(Accuracy)
A guitar that plays in tune at the nut but goes sharp at the 12th fret is useless for recording or performing. We strobe-tune the intonation so your chords sound consonant and sweet all the way up the neck.
(Fret Polish & Board Care)
We inspect the fretwork for any rough edges or “sprout” that happens during shipping. We polish the frets until they feel like glass, and we condition the fretboard so it feels broken-in the moment you open the case.
(Electronics & Hardware)
We test every switch, pot, and jack. We tighten the tuners. We make sure the guitar is road-ready, not just showroom-ready.
Because we’re a real shop with real humans on the bench, we can set the guitar up specifically for your playing style.
Do you play with a heavy hand? Tune down to Drop-C? Want a specific string gauge?
Just tell us at checkout—there’s a “Notes” field when you place your order.
We don’t charge you extra for the labor. We just want you to bond with the instrument the second you pick it up.
It takes time. It costs us money. So why do we do it?
Because we’re players. We know the disappointment of unboxing a dream guitar only to find out it needs $100 worth of work to be playable. We want to kill that feeling.
That's the Moore Guitars difference.
