Product Description

Big Mahogany Tone In A Go-Anywhere Size

The Taylor GS Mini Mahogany is one of those rare small-body acoustics that feels like a travel guitar but sounds like a full-size cannon. Compact 36 inch length, short 23.5 inch scale, and a solid mahogany top that throws way more warmth and volume than its size should allow.

Whether you are writing on the couch, campfire strumming, or need an easy grab-and-go acoustic that still inspires you, this GS Mini hits that sweet spot between comfort and serious tone.

Solid Mahogany Top With Warm, Punchy Voice

The solid Neo-Tropical mahogany top is the heart of this guitar. It gives you that warm, woody midrange where chords bloom and single notes feel thick and vocal.

Mahogany has a focused, direct sound that records beautifully and never gets too bright. Strum it hard and it growls with a nice, gritty push. Play lightly and it responds with a dry, intimate tone that is perfect for singer-songwriter vibes.

GS Mini Body That Feels Small, Sounds Big

The GS Mini body is a scaled-down take on Taylor’s Grand Symphony shape. You get the comfort of a smaller guitar without the boxy, toy-like tone most short-scale acoustics suffer from.

At 36 inches overall and only 3.7 lbs (3 lb 11 oz), it is ridiculously easy to live with. On the couch, in the studio, or on a cramped stage, it sits against your body just right and still moves plenty of air when you dig in.

Short Scale, Real Intonation

Real talk: a lot of short-scale acoustics do not play in tune up the neck. This one does. Taylor put in the work so the GS Mini tunes up accurately, chords stay sweet and true, and you do not get those sour notes past the fifth fret.

The 23.5 inch scale also keeps the tension slinky, even with the stock D’Addario XS coated 13 to 56 set. Bends feel buttery, open chords ring with ease, and it is a friendly neck for newer players and seasoned hands alike.

Built To Travel, Ready For Work

Layered sapele back and sides keep the guitar stable when you are moving through different climates, so you can throw it in the car or van without stressing every little humidity change. The matte finish looks clean, feels smooth, and is low maintenance.

It ships with a structured Taylor gig bag that actually protects the guitar, not just covers it. No onboard electronics here, which keeps it simple and resonant, but it mics up beautifully and takes an external pickup like a champ if you want to hit the stage.

Dialed In By Moore Guitars

Before this GS Mini Mahogany leaves our Evansville shop, it gets our full Player-Perfect setup and a triple inspection. That means clean fretwork, comfortable action, and intonation dialed so it really does play in tune all over the neck.

Tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout and our techs will set it up like it is going into their own rig. Photos are of the actual guitar, and it ships fast with free 2 to 3 day shipping and a 14-Day Return Policy that keeps the risk off you and on us.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The GS Mini Mahogany is noticeably more compact than a full-size dreadnought but it is not a toy. At about 36 inches long with a 23.5 inch scale, it sits closer to your body, is easier to wrap your arm around, and fits in tighter spaces when you travel. You get the comfort of a small guitar with a voice that still feels like a real, grown-up acoustic.
A lot of short-scale acoustics struggle to play in tune up the neck. This is where Taylor gets it right. The GS Mini Mahogany is designed so it tunes up accurately, chords stay sweet all the way up the neck, and it holds pitch like a full-size guitar. You get the slinky feel of the shorter scale without sacrificing tuning stability.
Yes. The compact body and 23.5 inch scale make it a very friendly guitar for newer players, younger players, or anyone who finds full-size acoustics a bit of a stretch. It is easier on the fretting hand, easier to reach around, and the lighter tension means you spend more time making music and less time fighting the guitar.
This GS Mini Mahogany has no onboard electronics, which keeps it simple and resonant. For live use, you can mic it up or add a soundhole or bridge-plate pickup and run it into your pedalboard or PA. Many players love the GS Mini as a travel, writing, and studio tool first, then add a pickup later if they need stage volume.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
