Small Body, Big Voice – The GS Mini That Goes Anywhere

The Taylor GS Mini has been the go-to acoustic for players who want real tone without hauling a full-size guitar. This GS Mini-e Mahogany takes that formula and adds a solid mahogany top, stage ready electronics, and a feel that makes you want to keep it on the couch, in the car, and on every stage you play.

Based on a scaled down Grand Symphony body, it still throws a surprising amount of air. The tone is big, bold, and focused, not boxy or thin like a lot of travel guitars. Whether you are writing songs, hitting open mics, or just looking for a starter guitar that will not hold you back, this little Taylor punches way above its size.

Solid Mahogany Top With Punchy, Focused Tone

The solid neo-tropical mahogany top is the heart of this guitar. You get that dry, woody warmth and a punchy midrange that makes chords and riffs pop without getting muddy. It has enough projection to hang in a jam and enough clarity to sit beautifully under a vocal or in a mix.

Layered sapele back and sides keep the guitar light, comfortable, and more resistant to the bumps and bruises of real life. The matte finish feels smooth and broken in, and it lets the guitar resonate freely instead of feeling choked by a thick gloss coat.

Short Scale Comfort That Still Plays In Tune

The GS Mini-e is only about 36 inches long, with a compact 23-1/2 inch scale. That means slinkier string tension, easier stretches, and a relaxed feel that is perfect for smaller hands, electric players, or anyone who hates fighting their acoustic.

Real talk: lots of short scale acoustics do not play in tune up the neck. Taylor actually did the work here. Intonation is dialed, chords ring true, and you can capo, fingerpick, or strum hard without the guitar going sour on you.

ES-B Electronics – Plug In, Tune Up, Play

Taylor’s ES-B system keeps things simple and musical. The built in pickup actually sounds like an acoustic guitar instead of a quacky piezo, so you can walk into a gig, plug straight into the board, and get a usable sound fast.

The onboard digital tuner is a game changer. Hit the button, tune silently, and you are back in the song in seconds. No extra pedal, no clipping some plastic gadget to the headstock, just a clean, stage ready solution built into the guitar.

Travel Ready, Stage Ready, Beginner Friendly

This GS Mini-e Mahogany is light at around 3.8 pounds and comes with a structured gig bag, so it is ready for road trips, flights, rehearsals, and campfires. The compact body sits comfortably whether you are on the couch or on a stool under stage lights.

It is also an incredible first guitar. The easy feel, accurate tuning, and inspiring tone make it way more likely you will actually play every day. You are getting a guitar that beginners will grow into and seasoned players will not be embarrassed to gig with.

This specific guitar is in our Evansville, Indiana shop right now, inspected three times and dialed in with a free pro setup before it ships. Photos are of the actual guitar, serial number 2202115268.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Do not let the size fool you. The GS Mini-e Mahogany has enough output and clarity to handle coffeehouse gigs, worship sets, and small band situations, especially with the ES-B system. It is a killer travel guitar, but plenty of pros use these on stage every week.
A full size dread will usually give you more sheer low end, but the GS Mini trades a bit of that boom for focus, balance, and comfort. You still get surprising bass, a strong midrange, and enough volume to hold its own, without the shoulder strain or feedback headaches that can come with a big box.
Absolutely. The shorter scale and compact body make it easier to play clean chords and stick with it longer, especially for smaller hands. The big, inspiring tone means you will not outgrow it in a year like a cheap starter pack guitar. This is a first guitar you can keep for life.
Yes. It includes Taylor’s structured GS Mini gig bag, which offers more protection than a basic soft case while still being light and easy to carry. Toss it in the car, overhead bin, or over your shoulder and go.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
Call us at (888) 794-8482. You’ll talk to a real musician who can answer anything you need to know.
