Product Description

Small Guitar, Big Voice, Ready To Go Anywhere

If you want an acoustic that can ride shotgun on every trip but still sound like a serious instrument, the Taylor GS Mini is hard to beat. This torrefied spruce and sapele version has that broken-in, wide-open voice right out of the box in a compact, couch-friendly package.

Compact GS Mini Body With Full-Size Attitude

The scaled-down Grand Symphony-inspired body is super easy on the shoulders and fits anywhere, from the tour van to the back porch. Even with the smaller footprint, it puts out a surprisingly full, room-filling sound that hangs in there with larger acoustics.

Strum it hard and it has punch and projection that cut through a mix. Back off your attack and it responds with a sweet, focused voice that sits beautifully under vocals.

Torrefied Spruce Top With Sapele Midrange Punch

The solid torrefied spruce top is the secret sauce here. That heat-treated spruce behaves like wood from a much older guitar, so the tone is more open, responsive, and alive than you expect from a new instrument.

Layered sapele back and sides add a tight, woody midrange that keeps chords clear and defined. The combination gives you rich lows, clear highs, and plenty of cut without harshness, whether you are fingerpicking or digging in with a heavy strum.

Plays Easy From First Chord To Last Encore

The shorter 23-1/2 inch scale keeps the string tension a bit slinkier, which makes bends easier and long sessions less work on your hands. The 1-11/16 inch nut spacing feels familiar and friendly for everything from cowboy chords to more intricate shapes.

Tropical mahogany paired with a West African Crelicam ebony fingerboard gives you a smooth, fast feel under the fingers. It is the kind of neck that invites you to keep playing long after you meant to put it down.

Built To Travel, Ready To Work

Real talk, a travel-sized acoustic has to survive the real world. The layered sapele body is tough enough for life on the road, the Taylor die-cast tuners keep tuning rock solid, and the Nubone nut and Micarta saddle help every note ring clean and true.

It ships with a Taylor padded gig bag, so you are covered for airports, car rides, rehearsals, and campfires. This is a grab-and-go guitar that does not feel like a compromise.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

For a small-body acoustic, it puts out a surprisingly big voice. It will not completely replace a full-size dreadnought in sheer volume, but it has plenty of projection for solo gigs, rehearsals, and campfire jams. In a mix or under a vocal, that tighter low end and focused midrange actually sit better than some larger guitars.
Torrefied spruce has been heat-treated to behave like wood from an older, well-played guitar. You hear it in the quicker response, extra bloom, and more open tone compared to a typical new spruce top. It basically skips a few years of break-in time, so you get that seasoned, played-in sound right away.
Absolutely. The shorter 23-1/2″ scale and compact body make it easier on smaller hands and shoulders, so new players are less likely to fight the instrument. At the same time, the build quality and tone are good enough that you will not outgrow it when your skills jump up. It is a legit guitar, not a toy.
This version is purely acoustic with no built-in pickup or preamp. If you decide to take it on stage, it is easy to add a soundhole pickup or an undersaddle system later. That way you get a clean, resonant acoustic box to start with and can choose the amplification route that fits your rig.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
