Product Description

Deep-Bodied Grand Pacific Warmth with Boutique Taylor Precision

If you’ve been chasing that big, round, broken-in dreadnought voice—but still want Taylor’s clarity and playability—the Gold Label 717e is absolutely in your wheelhouse. This isn’t just another rosewood/spruce box; it’s a deeper Grand Pacific with torrefied top, fanned V-Class bracing, and a neck you can literally dial in to your hands.

The result is a guitar that feels familiar on day one and keeps revealing new colors every time you sit down with it—warm, blooming lows, clear top end, and a responsive midrange that never muddies out.

Deeper Grand Pacific Body = Bigger, Rounder Voice

This Gold Label 717e takes Taylor’s Grand Pacific—already a killer modified round-shoulder dread—and pushes it further. The body is a full five inches deep at the soundhole, about 3/8″ deeper than the standard version, which translates directly into more low-end power, projection, and a noticeably warmer, rounder overall voice.

You still get that Taylor balance and note separation, but with extra body behind every chord. Strumming feels huge and cinematic, while flatpicked lines have weight and bloom without getting boomy.

Torrefied Sitka & Indian Rosewood: Bloom and Sweetness

The classic combo of a torrefied Sitka spruce top over solid Indian rosewood back and sides is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. The roasted top adds that “played-in for years” sweetness and responsiveness—notes light up quickly, sustain naturally, and the attack feels buttery rather than stiff.

Rosewood brings its signature blooming overtones and rich low end, so big open chords sound orchestral and fingerstyle parts have a lush halo around every note. Real talk: if you want a guitar that makes you want to slow down and enjoy every chord, this is that guitar.

Fanned V-Class Bracing with Tonal Rout

Under the hood, the fanned variant of Taylor’s V-Class bracing with tonal rout is shaping how this guitar moves air. You get the intonation and sustain benefits V-Class is known for, but voiced for a warmer, round-shoulder dread response rather than a super-modern, ultra-bright sound.

Chords stay in tune up the neck, single-note lines ring longer, and the whole guitar feels more alive under your right hand. It’s the kind of acoustic that records beautifully with minimal EQ and sits in a mix without a fight.

Action Control Neck™: Your Ideal Setup, On Demand

The long-tenon Action Control Neck™ is a huge part of what makes this Gold Label special. The extended neck joint improves coupling between neck and body, adding even more low-end warmth and overall resonance—so you feel the guitar vibrating against your chest, not just hear it.

On top of that, you get unprecedented adjustability: you can access the interior neck bolt through the soundhole and fine-tune the action to your exact preference. Need it a touch lower for fingerstyle, or a bit higher for heavy strumming? You can dial it in without a trip to the tech.

Stage-Ready with LR Baggs Element VTC

When it’s time to plug in, the LR Baggs Element VTC keeps everything honest. It captures the warmth of the deeper body and the complexity of the rosewood without turning into that quacky, plastic-y plugged-in tone we’ve all fought on stage.

It’s a true “show up, plug in, and go” system—natural, dynamic, and happy through a PA, acoustic amp, or direct to the board. Great for modern worship, songwriter rounds, studio dates, and anything in between.

Gold Label Details, Player-First Build

The Curve Wing bridge and Indian rosewood bridge pins keep the aesthetic elevated while helping transfer energy efficiently into the top. Cream binding and the matching single-ring rosette frame the body beautifully, and the modified paddle headstock with Cream Crest inlay ties it all together.

West African Crelicam ebony is used for both the fingerboard and peghead veneer, giving you that smooth, glassy feel under the left hand and a clean, classy look up top. A full-body gloss finish lets the grain shine while still feeling slick and stage-ready.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The big differences are under the hood and in the body depth. This Gold Label 717e has a full 5″ deep Grand Pacific body—3/8″ deeper than the standard version—for more low-end power and warmth. You’re also getting a torrefied Sitka top, a fanned variant of V-Class bracing with tonal rout, and the long-tenon Action Control Neck™. All of that adds up to a richer, rounder voice with more sustain and a neck you can fine-tune to your exact preference.
Instead of a fixed neck angle, the long-tenon Action Control Neck™ uses an interior neck bolt you can access through the soundhole. By turning that bolt, you’re subtly changing the neck angle and, in turn, the action (string height) without shaving saddles or doing invasive work. That means you can chase your ideal setup—whether that’s low and fast for fingerstyle or a touch higher for aggressive strumming—without a full trip to a repair shop.
Even though it’s a full 5″ deep at the soundhole, the Grand Pacific shape keeps it surprisingly comfortable. The round-shoulder outline tucks in nicely against your body whether you’re sitting or standing. What you really notice is the extra air it moves—more low-end punch and warmth—without feeling like you’re wrestling a jumbo. If you’re used to dreadnoughts, this will feel familiar but more refined.
The 717e is a bit of a chameleon. Strummers get that big, round, record-ready dreadnought thump. Flatpickers benefit from the V-Class clarity and sustain—lines stay defined even in dense arrangements. Fingerstyle players get a warm, blooming response with plenty of headroom. Add the LR Baggs Element VTC and it’s equally at home on the worship stage, songwriter rounds, or studio sessions.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our **72-Hour Love-It Guarantee**. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
