A NAMM-Only Taylor GA That Blooms Under A Light Touch
This Taylor Custom Grand Auditorium is one of those rare builds that makes you play softer, listen harder, and fall in love with your own tone again. Western red cedar on top of Indian rosewood back and sides, V-Class bracing, and a pile of custom appointments make this 1 of 18 NAMM Catch guitar feel like a lifer.
Western Red Cedar Top & Indian Rosewood Body
Cedar is softer than spruce, which means it comes alive with a lighter touch. You get quick response, a warm, broken-in sweetness, and a beautiful bloom on every note without having to dig in. Paired with classic Indian rosewood back and sides, you get a rich low end, crisp trebles, and those lush, complex overtones that seem to hang in the air.
The dark shaded top pulls out the natural red and amber hues of the cedar, while the natural gloss back and sides show off the rosewood grain. Indian rosewood binding and a beveled rosewood armrest frame it up, so it feels as good against your picking arm as it looks on a stand.
V-Class Bracing: Volume, Sustain, And Intonation Dialed In
Taylor’s V-Class bracing takes this cedar and rosewood combo and turns it into a precision tool. You get more usable volume, longer sustain, and noticeably better intonation up the neck. Chords stay in tune higher on the fretboard, and single notes ring clear and true even when you stack open strings against fretted notes.
For fingerstyle players, that means your dynamics actually translate. Play gently and it responds with warmth and detail. Lean in and it will push back with a focused punch instead of turning into a fuzzy roar. It hits that sweet spot between sensitivity and control.
Custom Details From Armrest To Belle Fleur Inlays
The custom trim on this guitar is serious eye candy. The Paua single ring rosette is framed with rosewood, koa, and black rings, and the top is finished with koa and black purfling plus Paua shell edge trim all the way around, including the fretboard extension. It looks like a high-end 900 Series that went to finishing school.
West African Crelicam ebony is everywhere it matters: fretboard, binding, and bridge. Belle Fleur inlays in Paua and mother of pearl on both the fretboard and peghead tie it all together, with a mother of pearl peghead logo sitting proudly up top. Gotoh 510 antique chrome tuners keep everything locked in and add a touch of understated class.
Cedar Feel, Player Focus: Built For The Hands-On Guitarist
The neo-tropical mahogany neck with Taylor’s standard carve feels familiar and fast, with a satin finish that stays smooth even on long sets. The Grand Auditorium body is the sweet spot for a lot of players: big enough to move air, small enough that it never feels like you are wrestling it. At 4.8 lbs, it is light, resonant, and easy on your back.
Cedar’s magic trick is how it amplifies a lighter touch. If you are a fingerstyle player or a dynamic flatpicker who plays with nuance instead of brute force, this guitar makes subtle phrasing and delicate patterns sound huge. Real talk: if your default is heavy strumming with a thick pick, a spruce top might be a better fit. If you live in the world of dynamics and detail, this one is home base.
NAMM Catch 1 Of 18: A Future Heirloom
This is not a catalog model. It is a NAMM Catch guitar, handpicked from Taylor’s special run of one-off and ultra-limited builds created for dealers at the NAMM show. Only 18 of this exact spec exist worldwide, and this one is #25 from the Catch list.
Moore Guitars hunts for the diamonds in that room, and this is one of them. You are getting a guitar that is priced in line with many standard high-end Taylors, but with specs, wood selection, and detailing you simply cannot order off the menu. This is the kind of piece that anchors a collection and builds your own legacy story.
ES2, TaylorSense, And Ready-To-Gig Reliability
Plugged in, the Expression System 2 with TaylorSense gives you a stage and studio ready voice straight out of the case. ES2 delivers a natural, airy acoustic sound that takes pedals and EQ well, while TaylorSense keeps tabs on your guitar’s health so you can stay ahead of humidity and travel issues. It is a smart rig for a serious working instrument.
It ships in a brown Taylor deluxe hard shell case, inspected three times and dialed in with our Player-Perfect setup before it leaves Evansville. Pictures are of the actual guitar, so what you see is exactly what will show up at your door.
