Product Description

Warm, Woody Grand Pacific Power For Real-World Players

If you love that big dreadnought thump but hate boomy low end and stiff feel, this Taylor American Dream AD27 Grand Pacific hits the sweet spot. It gives you a wide, open voice with a focused midrange, warm lows, and the kind of balance that just works on stage, in the studio, or on the couch.

Solid Mahogany Top, Sapele Body: Hardwood Warmth For Days

Mahogany on top with solid sapele back and sides is a serious tone recipe. You get that woody, midrange-forward voice that makes chords feel chewy and present, with a clear, warm low end that never turns to mud. Strum it and the whole body comes alive with a dry, rootsy character that loves Americana, folk, worship, and singer-songwriter work.

Because everything is solid wood, this guitar will only get more open and resonant the more you play it. The Urban Sienna stain and matte finish keep the vibe earthy and understated, but the sound has all the bloom and punch you expect from a US-built Taylor.

V-Class Bracing: Louder, Longer, More In Tune

Taylor’s V-Class bracing is the secret weapon here. It stiffens the top where it needs to be stiff and lets it flex where it needs to move, so the guitar feels more alive under your right hand. You get more volume, longer sustain, and a cleaner, in-tune sound all the way up the neck.

Real talk: once you feel how chords lock in and how single notes ring out without collapsing, it is hard to go back. It makes this AD27 feel like a much more expensive instrument when you are tracking or playing with other musicians.

Grand Pacific Comfort With Chamfered Edges

The Grand Pacific shape is Taylor’s slope-shoulder dreadnought, so you get a big, round low end but with a softer attack than a traditional boxy dread. It is built to sit comfortably against your body, and the chamfered edges keep the rim from digging into your picking arm during long sets.

The tropical mahogany neck feels fast and friendly, with a satin matte finish that never gets sticky under stage lights. At around 4.3 pounds, it is a lightweight, well-balanced acoustic that you can play for hours without fighting it.

Stripped-Down American Dream Aesthetic

The American Dream Series is about pro performance without a bunch of flashy trim. You get clean 4 mm Italian acrylic dot inlays, a single-ring black/maple/black rosette, faux tortoiseshell pickguard, and that thin 2.0-mil matte finish that lets the guitar resonate instead of burying the wood under gloss.

No binding, no armrest, no bling. Just solid, workhorse materials and a look that feels like an old favorite from day one.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The Grand Pacific is Taylor’s spin on a slope-shoulder dread, so you still get that big-body punch but with a smoother attack and a more relaxed feel against your picking arm. It has plenty of low-end presence, but the rounded shoulders and chamfered edges make it more comfortable to hold and easier to live with than a boxy, square-shouldered dreadnought.
V-Class bracing lets the top move more efficiently, so you get more volume and sustain without the notes going out of tune against each other. Chords sound clearer and more in tune up the neck, single notes ring longer, and the whole guitar feels more responsive under your right hand. It is one of those things you notice as soon as you play a few big open chords.
The Urban Sienna stain sets the vibe, but the real magic is the thin 2.0-mil matte finish. Because there is less finish between you and the wood, the top and body can resonate more freely, which helps the guitar feel more open and immediate. It also gives the neck and body a smooth, broken-in feel instead of the sticky gloss you get on a lot of acoustics.
Definitely. The midrange focus helps the AD27 sit in a band mix without getting lost, and that controlled low end keeps it from turning to mush on recordings. There is no onboard pickup, so you can mic it for the most natural tone or add your favorite pickup system and build your own live rig around it. It is built to be a reliable, do-it-all workhorse.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
