Product Description

Modern Nylon-String Feel With Rich, Aged-In Tone

The Taylor 214ce-N is for players who love nylon-string warmth but do not want to fight a big, chunky classical neck. It gives you that smooth, vocal nylon tone with a sleek, familiar Taylor feel that steel-string players can jump into instantly.

Torrefied Spruce Top With Punch And Warmth

The solid torrefied spruce top gives you that sweet spot of quick attack and aged-in warmth right out of the case. Torrefaction pre-ages the wood so the top feels responsive and lively, with notes that bloom instead of thud.

Layered walnut back and sides add focus and clarity to the naturally soft nylon voice. You get a clear, balanced tone profile that keeps melody lines defined, chords articulate, and fingerstyle passages glassy and present.

Grand Auditorium Comfort With A Slender Nylon Neck

The Grand Auditorium body hits that crossover comfort zone: big enough for depth and projection, compact enough to feel easy whether you are seated or standing. The Venetian cutaway lets you reach the upper register without thinking about it.

The slender Taylor neck with a 1-7/8 inch nut feels far less bulky than a traditional classical carve. Real talk, if you are coming from a steel-string, this is the nylon that will actually feel like home instead of a totally different instrument.

ES-N Electronics For Organic Plugged-In Tone

Taylor’s ES-N system is voiced specifically for nylon strings, so your plugged-in tone stays natural and acoustic instead of quacky or harsh. The single-source undersaddle design tracks your dynamics and touch, from whispery bossa comping to bright, singing lines.

Whether you are on a worship stage, in a coffeehouse, or dropping tracks in the studio, it delivers a warm, clear signal that sits in the mix with minimal fuss. Dial in your sound fast and get back to playing.

Lightweight, Road-Ready, And Built To Inspire

At around 4.3 pounds, this 214ce-N feels light and balanced on a strap or in your lap, which makes long sets and late-night sessions easy on the shoulders. The matte finish on the body and neck keeps things smooth and fast, with no sticky gloss slowing you down.

West African Crelicam ebony for the fingerboard and bridge, classical nickel tuners with faux pearl buttons, and Taylor’s rock-solid build quality round out a guitar that is ready for real-world playing. It ships in a structured gig bag that offers far more protection than a basic soft case, so you can actually take it out into the world.

Dialed In By Players, For Players

Every guitar we ship gets our full Player-Perfect setup, inspected three times before it leaves the shop. Tell us your preferred action and string feel at checkout and we will dial this 214ce-N in so it arrives ready to make music, not a trip to the repair bench.

This specific guitar (serial 2209274121) is the one in the photos, sitting in our Evansville, Indiana shop right now and ready to ship.

Questions about how this Taylor 214ce-N will fit your rig or playing style? Call (888) 794-8482 and talk to someone who actually plays nylon-strings and cares about getting it right.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Traditional classical necks are wide, flat, and pretty chunky. The 214ce-N keeps the wider nut width nylon players need, but the carve is much sleeker and more in line with a Taylor steel-string. It feels less like a huge handful and more like a comfortable acoustic neck, which makes the transition from steel to nylon feel natural instead of awkward.
The ES-N is voiced specifically for nylon, so you do not get that harsh, nasal quack you hear from a lot of undersaddle systems. It delivers a warm, articulate tone that sounds like your guitar, just louder. In a mix it sits beautifully, with enough clarity to cut and enough warmth to stay musical. Most players find they need very little EQ to get a polished, stage-ready sound.
Absolutely. If you are used to a Taylor or similar steel-string neck, the 214ce-N feels familiar instead of foreign. The Grand Auditorium body, comfortable carve, and responsive torrefied spruce top make it easy to explore classical pieces, bossa, or worship sets without fighting the instrument. It is a true crossover guitar that rewards good technique but does not punish you while you are getting there.
This Taylor ships with a structured gig bag, which is more protective than a typical soft bag. It has enough rigidity and padding to handle regular rehearsals, church gigs, or sessions without stressing about every bump. It keeps the guitar light and easy to carry, but still gives you real-world protection for the long haul.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
