Product Description

Sunburst Taylor Sparkle For Stage, Studio, And Couch Sessions

The Taylor 214ce-K Sunburst Plus gives you that classic Taylor balance and clarity in a package that looks as good as it sounds. Solid Sitka spruce on top, layered koa on the back and sides, and a Grand Auditorium body that feels right at home whether you are fingerpicking, strumming, or doing a bit of both.

Grand Auditorium Body That Does It All

The Grand Auditorium shape is Taylor’s sweet spot. It is focused enough for articulate fingerstyle, yet has the headroom to handle big open strums without turning to mush. If you want one acoustic-electric that can cover worship sets, songwriter nights, studio overdubs, and living room hangs, this body shape makes a strong case.

Solid Spruce Top And Layered Koa Back And Sides

The solid Sitka spruce top gives you that familiar Taylor shimmer on top with a clear, controlled low end. Layered koa on the back and sides adds visual flair and a touch of sweetness in the mids, all while staying stable through travel and weather changes.

The gloss sunburst top catches stage lights in all the right ways, while the satin koa back and sides feel smooth against your body. It is the kind of guitar that makes you want to pick it up before you even hear the first note ring out.

ES2 Electronics That Sound Like Your Guitar, Only Louder

Taylor’s Expression System 2 is one of the few stock acoustic systems that does not sound like a quacky piezo. The patented behind-the-saddle pickup and preamp track your dynamics so your plugged-in sound stays natural and three-dimensional.

Run it straight into a PA, an acoustic amp, or your interface and you get a clear, mix-ready tone that takes pedals and EQ well. Real talk, you will spend more time playing than fighting your live sound.

Comfortable Neck And Easy Upper-Fret Access

The neo-tropical mahogany neck with Taylor’s standard profile feels familiar from the first chord. It is slim enough for modern techniques, yet has enough substance that you do not feel like you are holding a toothpick.

The Venetian cutaway gives you smooth access to the upper frets, so melodic lines and high chord voicings are right there without a fight. West African Crelicam ebony on the fingerboard and bridge adds a slick feel and fast response under your fingers.

Lightweight, Gig-Ready, And Protected

At around 4 pounds 8 ounces, this 214ce-K Sunburst Plus is easy on your shoulder for long sets and rehearsal nights. The included Taylor AeroCase is lightweight but tough, so you are covered for regular gigging and transport without dragging a heavy hard case everywhere.

This exact guitar, serial number 2205023053, is hanging on the wall in our Evansville shop, dialed in with a Player-Perfect setup and ready to ship.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The big difference is the layered koa back and sides. You still get a solid Sitka spruce top for that classic Taylor clarity and responsiveness, but the layered koa keeps the guitar more budget friendly and very stable when you are gigging, traveling, or dealing with changing seasons. Tonally it is bright, clear, and balanced, and most players are surprised by how lively it feels compared to some all-solid guitars in this price range.
Absolutely. The Grand Auditorium body is built for versatility. Play light fingerstyle and you get articulation and detail with plenty of sparkle. Dig in with a flatpick and it stays tight and punchy instead of getting boomy. If you bounce between worship sets, solo acoustic gigs, and writing at home, this Taylor handles all of it without feeling like a compromise.
The ES2 is designed to sound like your guitar, not like a plastic piezo. Because the sensors sit behind the saddle, they react to the way the top moves instead of just string pressure. The result is a more open, mic-like sound with better dynamics and less of that quack you might be used to. Plug straight into a PA or interface and you are very close to a finished, mix-ready tone.
At around 4 lbs 8 oz, this 214ce-K Sunburst Plus is an easy carry for long nights. It feels light on a strap but still substantial in your hands, so you do not feel like you are wrestling a big dreadnought all night. If you are leading multiple services or playing back-to-back sets, your shoulder will thank you.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
Call us at (888) 794-8482. You’ll talk to a real musician who can answer anything you need to know.
