Product Description

Compact Grand Concert, Big Inspiring Tone

If you want an acoustic that feels easy in the hands but still throws sound like a full-size guitar, this Taylor 212ce hits that sweet spot. Torrefied spruce, layered walnut, and Taylor’s ES2 pickup system team up for a guitar that feels relaxed, sounds wide open, and is ready for living room sessions or full-on stage work.

Torrefied Spruce Top With Open, Aged-In Warmth

The solid torrefied spruce top is the secret sauce here. Taylor’s roasting process pre-ages the wood, so you get that broken-in sweetness and quick response you usually have to wait years for. Notes jump off the top with a focused attack, then bloom into a warm, clear sustain that never gets muddy.

Layered walnut back and sides add a touch of natural compression and sweetness. The result is a voice that is articulate enough for fingerstyle detail but still has enough low-end support to keep strumming full and musical. It is the kind of tone that records clean and sits in a mix without a fight.

Grand Concert Comfort, Short Scale Relaxed Feel

The Grand Concert body shape is all about comfort. It tucks in close to your body, sitting perfectly whether you are on a stool, a couch, or standing with a strap. At around 4.3 pounds, this guitar is featherweight and perfectly balanced, so long sets are no problem.

The 24-7/8 inch scale length and 1-11/16 inch nut width keep the tension a little softer and the stretches a little easier. Chords feel relaxed, barre shapes are less of a workout, and intricate fingerstyle patterns feel natural and controlled. Paired with Taylor’s standard carve mahogany neck and smooth matte finish, it is a neck you can live on for hours.

ES2 Electronics: Plug In And Sound Like You

Taylor’s Expression System 2 is one of the few acoustic pickup systems that actually sounds like your guitar instead of a quacky approximation of it. The behind-the-saddle sensors capture the dynamics of your right hand, so you get the same touch response plugged in that you hear unplugged.

Whether you are going straight into a PA, an acoustic amp, or an interface, the ES2 gives you a clear, present, and natural sound that takes EQ and reverb like a champ. Great for worship rigs, songwriter rounds, or full-band gigs where you need to cut through without harshness.

Stage Ready Details And Real-World Durability

The matte finish on the top, back, and sides keeps reflections down under stage lights and feels smooth and broken in from day one. White binding and the simple 3-ring rosette keep the look clean and classy, while the tortoise pickguard hints at classic acoustic vibes.

Die-cast chrome tuners lock in tuning stability, and the NuBone nut and Micarta saddle keep things intonated and consistent up and down the neck. Black ABS bridge pins keep the hardware low maintenance and road ready. It is a guitar built to actually be played, not babied.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The Grand Concert body is noticeably more compact than a dreadnought, so it sits closer to your body and feels less like you are wrestling the guitar. Combine that with the shorter 24-7/8″ scale and you get lower string tension, easier stretches, and less fatigue. Real talk: if dreadnoughts feel a little bulky but you still want a serious, full-sounding acoustic, this 212ce hits that sweet spot.
Torrefaction is basically controlled aging. Taylor roasts the spruce top so it behaves more like wood from a well-loved vintage guitar. You get a quicker, more immediate response, less harshness in the highs, and a warm, open midrange right out of the box. Instead of waiting years for the top to “wake up,” this one already has that sweet, broken-in character.
The 212ce leans naturally toward fingerstyle because of the Grand Concert body and shorter scale – it is super responsive to a light touch and lets intricate lines speak clearly. That said, it absolutely holds its own for light to medium strumming and flatpicking. If you are a heavy bluegrass-style basher, you might want a bigger body, but for modern worship, folk, pop, and songwriter stuff, this guitar is right in the pocket.
The Expression System 2 is one of the more natural-sounding onboard systems out there. Plugged straight into a PA, acoustic amp, or recording interface, you get a clear, balanced tone that actually sounds like your guitar – not a plastic, quacky version of it. It takes EQ and reverb really well, so it is easy to dial in a polished, mix-ready sound for live or studio use.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
