Product Description

Your New Favorite Strummer

Here’s the deal—the Taylor Academy 12e is one of those guitars that just feels *right* the second you pick it up. This isn’t some stiff, hard-to-play acoustic that fights you every step of the way. It’s the opposite. Built for comfort, tone, and pure playability, this used 2022 model is in great shape and ready to go. With its solid Sitka spruce top and layered sapele back and sides, you get that classic Taylor clarity and midrange punch in a compact Grand Concert body that’s incredibly comfortable to hold.

Playability is Everything

Taylor built its reputation on its necks, and this one is no exception. The maple neck has a slim, comfortable profile that feels instantly familiar. Combined with the slightly shorter 24-7/8″ scale length, string tension is a little slinkier, making bends easier and fretting chords a breeze. Add in the built-in armrest—a feature usually reserved for much pricier guitars—and you’ve got an instrument that’s a joy to play for hours on end.

Ready for the Stage

Don’t let its comfortable size fool you; this guitar is ready to be heard. The onboard Taylor ES-B electronics mean you can plug in and play anywhere, with a simple, effective preamp that faithfully translates the guitar’s natural acoustic voice. It even has a built-in digital tuner, so you’re always ready to rock. Whether you’re a beginner looking for a killer first guitar or a seasoned pro needing a reliable and comfortable instrument, this Academy 12e delivers.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The armrest makes a huge difference in comfort. It softens the edge of the guitar body where your strumming arm rests, which reduces fatigue and pressure, allowing you to play longer and more comfortably. It’s a premium feature that makes the guitar feel much more inviting.
The 24-7/8″ scale length reduces the tension on the strings. This makes the guitar feel ‘slinkier’ and easier to play—fretting notes and bending strings requires less effort. Tonally, it produces a slightly warmer, fuller sound compared to a longer scale length, which complements the Grand Concert body shape perfectly.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
In-stock gear typically ships within 1-2 business days (Mon-Fri). Most orders arrive in 1-4 business days via UPS Ground, depending on your distance from Indiana. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
