Product Description

A Fingerstyle Player’s Dream—The Landmark 2014 Taylor 812e

This isn’t just another Taylor. This is a pre-owned 2014 812e, a guitar born from the year master luthier Andy Powers completely redesigned the flagship 800 series. The result? A Grand Concert that’s incredibly responsive, articulate, and bursting with warmth—a truly inspiring instrument that feels alive in your hands. It’s in very good condition, waiting for its next musical chapter.

Grand Concert Body: Comfort & Clarity

The Grand Concert shape is Taylor’s most intimate body style, and it pays huge dividends for feel and tone. Its smaller dimensions make it incredibly comfortable to hold, whether you’re on the couch or in the studio. Sonically, this shape produces a focused, controlled voice that’s perfect for fingerstyle playing and recording. Every note is defined, with a beautiful top-end shimmer that cuts through a mix without overpowering it.

Timeless Tonewoods: Sitka & Rosewood

The classic pairing of a solid Sitka Spruce top with solid Indian Rosewood back and sides delivers a sound that’s both powerful and nuanced. The Sitka top provides the dynamic range—it can handle a light touch or a heavy hand with equal grace. The Rosewood back and sides generate those deep, rich lows and sparkling highs that players crave, with a slightly scooped midrange that creates a warm, high-fidelity voice.

Stage-Ready Electronics: Expression System 2

When you’re ready to plug in, Taylor’s revolutionary Expression System 2 (ES2) is ready to go. This behind-the-saddle pickup design captures the guitar’s natural dynamic properties, translating all that acoustic nuance into a warm, authentic amplified tone. Whether you’re playing live or recording direct, the ES2 delivers the true voice of the guitar.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

2014 was a huge year for Taylor. Designer Andy Powers completely re-voiced the 800 series, introducing optimized bracing, a thinner gloss finish, and protein glues—all to make the guitars lighter, more resonant, and more responsive. This 812e is a prime example of that player-focused innovation.
While it truly shines for fingerstyle, the Grand Concert’s clarity and balance make it a great guitar for light-to-medium strumming, especially for singer-songwriters. It records beautifully and won’t produce the boomy low-end that can muddy up a track.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
