Product Description

Baritone Depth With Semi Hollow Air And Soapbar Bite

If you have ever dropped your tuning and wished it sounded bigger instead of just lower, the PRS SE 277 Semi-Hollow Soapbar is what you have been hearing in your head. It delivers true baritone depth, semi hollow resonance, and soapbar bite that stays clear, punchy, and inspiring on every note.

This is not a standard guitar forced into baritone duty. It is purpose built to live in the lower registers, so the low strings feel solid and musical instead of floppy and muddy.

Semi Hollow Body That Makes Low Tunings Bloom

The semi hollow mahogany body with beveled maple top and flame maple veneer gives this SE 277 real acoustic air in the sound. Your low B or A chords bloom instead of flubbing out, with a woody, three dimensional character that keeps everything musical.

You still get the satisfying growl and weight you expect from a baritone, but with the warmth and resonance of a great semi hollow. Big open chords stay articulate, and single notes have that natural bloom that feels alive under your hands.

PRS SE Soapbars With Real P90 Authority

The PRS SE Soapbar pickups are the secret sauce. They bring raw, gritty P90 style punch that cuts through a dense mix, but with enough warmth and body to keep things full and rich down low.

Think more beef than a typical T style and more top end sparkle than a humbucker, right in that sweet spot. Kick on fuzz or overdrive and the 277 roars with focused aggression. Roll the volume back and it cleans up into glassy, chiming textures that keep the low notes tight and defined.

27.7 Inch Baritone Scale That Feels Instantly Comfortable

Baritone scale only works if it feels right under your hands, and PRS nailed the balance here. The 27.7 inch scale gives you ideal tension for B to B or A to A tuning, snappy and responsive without feeling like you are wrestling the strings.

The Wide Fat neck profile is a classic PRS carve for a reason. It is substantial enough to anchor big chords and slinky legato runs, but it never turns into a baseball bat. Paired with the rosewood fingerboard and 10 inch radius, bends feel buttery, chords lock in, and the whole guitar just feels right from the first riff.

Lightweight, Resonant, And Ready For The Studio

At around 6.8 lbs, this SE 277 is easy on the shoulder and alive in your hands. The semi hollow construction and PRS plate style string through bridge give you sustain with a touch of airy bloom that is perfect for ambient swells, cinematic soundscapes, or tuned down twang.

Nickel hardware and PRS designed tuners keep everything stable so you can dig in hard or play with subtle dynamics without chasing your tuning. Real talk, this thing tracks beautifully under mics and sits in the mix in that sweet spot between guitar and bass.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The 27.7 inch scale is dialed for baritone work. It feels perfect in B to B, and still nice and snappy in A to A if you bump the string gauges a bit. You can also run drop tunings off those foundations, so Drop A or Drop G feel solid instead of floppy. If you tell us your preferred tuning at checkout, we can set the guitar up around that.
The semi hollow construction adds air and bloom to the note without turning the low end to mush. You still get plenty of baritone thump, but chords stay three dimensional and clear instead of clamping down. It is that sweet spot where the guitar feels alive under your hands and still locks in tight with a drummer and bass player.
These SE Soapbars live right between a traditional single coil and a humbucker. Compared to humbuckers you get more top end cut and clarity, especially in the low tunings, so the guitar never turns to mud. Compared to standard single coils you get more midrange meat and punch, so riffs hit harder and leads sing. They are fantastic with gain but still chimey and glassy when you roll the volume back.
It absolutely handles heavy rock and metal, but that is just one lane. This guitar shines for ambient textures, post rock swells, cinematic drones, surfy low twang, and modern country baritone lines. In the studio it is a secret weapon for adding a layer between guitar and bass that makes arrangements feel huge without getting cluttered.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
In-stock gear typically ships within 1-2 business days (Mon-Fri). Most orders arrive in 1-4 business days via UPS Ground, depending on your distance from Indiana. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
