Product Description

A Luthier’s Masterpiece in Koa

This isn’t just another guitar—it’s a declaration. Straight from the Martin Custom Shop, this ‘000’/OM is a breathtaking showcase of the luthier’s art, built from one of the most coveted tonewoods on the planet: **highly-flamed Koa**. The entire body, from the top to the back and sides, is a canvas of deep, holographic figuring that seems to move under the flawless Ambertone burst finish. It’s a guitar that quiets a room before you even play a note.

Golden Era Voice

Under the hood, this instrument is pure vintage Martin. It’s built with **Golden Era-style scalloped spruce bracing** and assembled with hide glue, allowing the top to breathe and resonate with incredible freedom. The result is a tone that is open, dynamically sensitive, and rich with complexity. Koa’s magic is its unique voice—it blends the woody midrange of mahogany with the crystalline sparkle of maple. It starts bright and articulate, but the more you play it, the more it opens up, blooming into a warm, overtone-rich sound that’s all your own.

Unmistakable Feel

The neck is where the guitar truly connects with the player, and this one feels like coming home. Carved from genuine mahogany into a **Modified V profile**, it offers the perfect handful—substantial enough for digging into chords but nimble enough for intricate single-note runs. The traditional dovetail neck joint ensures that every bit of string energy transfers directly into the body, creating sustain that just goes for days. From the classic slotted headstock with Grover Sta-Tite tuners to the silky black ebony fingerboard, every detail is crafted for a lifetime of playing.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Koa is a fantastic tonewood that offers a unique sonic journey. Brand new, it has a bright, sweet top end, almost like maple. But as you play it, the midrange opens up and it becomes warmer and richer, taking on some of the character of mahogany. It’s a guitar that truly grows with the player.
This refers to the construction techniques used during Martin’s celebrated pre-war period. The scalloped bracing is lighter, allowing the top to vibrate more freely for increased volume and responsiveness. Hide glue creates a much stiffer, more resonant bond between the parts than modern glues, enhancing tonal transfer and sustain. It’s all about making the guitar feel and sound as alive as possible.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
In-stock gear typically ships within 1-2 business days (Mon-Fri). Most orders arrive in 1-4 business days via UPS Ground, depending on your distance from Indiana. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
