Product Description

American-Made Jackson Speed Machine

This pre-owned Jackson American Series Virtuoso in Rocket Red is a straight-up beast of an instrument, built for players who demand precision, power, and feel. Born in Corona, California, this guitar represents the pinnacle of Jackson’s shred-focused legacy, combining classic aggressive styling with modern, player-centric refinements. It’s in excellent condition and ready to unleash some serious fury.

The Need for Speed Neck

The neck is where the magic happens on a Jackson, and this one is exceptional. It’s a 5-piece caramelized maple construction—built for rock-solid stability and a snappy response. The hand-rubbed satin urethane finish feels incredible, never sticky or slow. Paired with a 12″-16″ compound radius streaked ebony fingerboard, it’s pure bliss. You get a comfortable curve for chording down low and a progressively flatter radius for effortless bends and lightning-fast runs up high.

Sonic Firepower: Seymour Duncan & Versatile Switching

This Virtuoso is loaded with the quintessential high-gain pickup combo: a Seymour Duncan JB™ TB-4 in the bridge and a ’59™ SH-1N in the neck. The JB delivers that iconic hot-rodded punch with tight lows, articulate mids, and searing highs that cut through any mix. The ’59 offers a warmer, vintage-voiced contrast, perfect for glassy cleans and fluid, vocal-like lead tones. But the real trick is the 5-way switch, which unlocks a whole palette of in-between single-coil tones—giving you everything from spanky cleans to full-bore metal onslaught in one guitar.

Stage-Ready, Dive-Bomb Proof Hardware

Every piece of hardware is chosen for performance and reliability. A Floyd Rose® 1500 Series double-locking tremolo system ensures you can dive, pull, and flutter to your heart’s content without slipping out of tune. Up top, Gotoh® MG-T locking tuners make string changes a breeze and add another layer of tuning stability. And with Dunlop® dual-locking strap buttons, you can perform with confidence, knowing your axe is staying put.

  • Bridge pickup delivers a powerful, mid-focused punch with rich harmonics and a tight low end—perfect for aggressive rhythm and lead work.
  • Neck pickup offers warm, articulate PAF-style tones with glassy highs and scooped mids, ideal for clean passages and smooth, bluesy leads.
  • Positions 2 and 4 provide chimey, single-coil-style tones that add incredible versatility for funk, pop, and lower-gain styles.
  • Extremely responsive to picking dynamics, cleaning up nicely when you roll the volume back and screaming when you dig in.

Playing Feel

  • The Virtuoso body shape is ergonomic and well-balanced, providing comfortable access to the upper frets.
  • The hand-rubbed satin neck finish and compound radius ebony board create a fast, smooth, and effortless playing surface.
  • Notes feel like they leap off the fretboard thanks to the resonant alder body and stable bolt-on neck construction.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

It’s surprisingly versatile. Position 1 is your classic, aggressive JB bridge humbucker. Position 2 gives you a great split-coil sound, blending the outer coil of the bridge with the inner coil of the neck for a bright, funky tone. Position 3 is both humbuckers on full. Position 4 is another split-coil variation with a slightly different character, and Position 5 is the warm, full ’59 neck humbucker. It covers a ton of ground.
It’s all about stability and feel. Caramelizing the maple (a roasting process) removes moisture, making the wood lighter and far more resistant to changes in temperature and humidity. The 5-piece construction alternates wood grain, which makes the neck incredibly strong and less prone to warping. The result is a neck that stays true and feels fantastic.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
