Product Description

Modern Gibson Songwriter power with classic rosewood dreadnought soul

If your ideal acoustic sound is big, open and piano like, but you still need modern playability and plug in control, the Gibson Songwriter Standard EC Rosewood is right in your wheelhouse. It takes Gibson’s time honored dreadnought voice, adds 1930s style hand scalloped bracing, then tops it off with a cutaway and pro grade electronics so it is just as happy on stage as it is on the couch.

Sitka spruce and rosewood that bloom with every strum

The recipe here is the classic tonewood combo for a reason. A solid Sitka spruce top gives you that quick, lively response and crisp articulation, while the rosewood back and sides add depth, low end thump and a bit of glassy sheen on the highs. Strum it and you get a wide, piano like spread. Dig in with a flatpick and it roars. Back off and it gets sweet and detailed for fingerstyle.

The traditional hand scalloped Advanced X bracing lets the top really move. That means more dynamic range, more headroom and more of that satisfying air you feel against your chest when you lean into it. It is the sound a lot of players have in their head when they think about what an acoustic guitar should be.

Square shoulder cutaway for real world playability

This is Gibson’s modern square shouldered dreadnought shape, with a cutaway that actually makes a difference. Upper register chords, melodic lines and lyrical solos up the neck are right there without you having to wrestle the body. If you are coming from the electric side, it feels welcoming instead of like a fight.

At around 5 pounds, it sits comfortably whether you are writing on the couch, tracking in the studio or playing a three hour set. The balance is dialed so it does not neck dive and it feels anchored against your body in a good way.

Comfortable rounded neck and a bound rosewood board

The mahogany neck uses a rounded profile that fills your hand without being a baseball bat. It is substantial enough that you feel connected to every note, but smooth enough that long sets do not leave your fretting hand cooked.

A rosewood fingerboard with a 12 inch radius keeps chords easy and bends controlled, and the 20 standard frets give you plenty of real estate without feeling cramped. Mother of pearl parallelogram inlays give it that unmistakable Gibson look every time you glance down.

Fishman Prefix Plus T: plug in and own the room

Onboard Fishman Prefix Plus T electronics turn this into a serious stage and studio tool. The under saddle pickup hears the whole guitar, not just the string, so you keep the warmth and shimmer that made you fall in love with it unplugged. Rib mounted controls put your EQ, notch filter and volume right where your picking arm can reach them.

The built in tuner is clutch in real life. Hit the switch, get quietly in tune, and you are back in the song in seconds. Whether you are going into an acoustic amp, a full PA or straight to a console, you have the control you need without dragging a separate preamp box around.

Full scale feel, inspiring response and ready to roll

The 25.5 inch scale length gives you that familiar full tension feel under your fingers. Chords stay tight and focused, dropped tunings hold together better, and single note lines have a bit more snap and cut. The Tusq nut, saddle and bridge pins keep things consistent and help the guitar ring evenly across all six strings.

Real talk, sometimes the look and feel of an instrument is what keeps you playing that extra five minutes that turns into a new song. The binding, the Custom Line appointments and the way this thing reacts to both strumming and delicate picking all add up to a guitar that begs to be picked up. The photos on the product page are of this exact instrument, so what you see is what shows up at your door, right down to the grain and figuring.

It ships in a hardshell case with a Gibson accessory kit, fully inspected and dialed in so you can get straight to making music.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

If you live in that singer-songwriter world, lead worship, play acoustic driven rock or just want a single workhorse dreadnought that covers a lot of ground, this guitar makes a ton of sense. The mix of classic Gibson dreadnought tone, modern cutaway and pro level Fishman electronics hits that sweet spot for players who are gigging, writing and recording on a regular basis.
The full 25.5 inch scale gives you a little more string tension than a shorter scale Gibson acoustic. In practice that means tighter low end, a bit more snap on your attack and better note definition when you dig in or tune down. Chords stay focused, and single note lines have a nice cut that helps them speak clearly in a band or recording mix.
The Fishman Prefix Plus-T is built for real world stages and studios. You get onboard EQ, a notch filter to fight feedback and a built in tuner, all in a rib mounted control layout that is easy to see and tweak on the fly. Plug into an acoustic amp, a PA or straight to the board and you have the tools to shape your sound without bringing extra boxes.
Yes. The photos you see are of this specific Gibson Songwriter Standard EC Rosewood, serial number 21914050. You are not getting a stock photo surprise – the grain, figuring and little visual details you fall in love with online are exactly what will show up in the case when it lands at your door.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
