Limited Run Les Paul Power With Vintage Attitude

The Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s Double Trouble takes everything players love about a 60s Standard and gives it extra swagger. Solid, non weight relieved mahogany, an AA figured maple top, and a subtly faded Vintage Cherry Sunburst nitro finish bring the vintage vibe, while the uncovered Burstbucker 61 pickups hit with more bite and clarity. This one comes in at 9.1 pounds, with that classic Les Paul heft that translates into sustain and authority every time you lean into a chord.

Solid Mahogany Punch And AA Flame Top

At the core is a solid, non weight relieved mahogany body that gives you that thick, singing low end and blooming midrange Les Pauls are famous for. No chambers, no tricks, just a solid slab that moves air and feeds your amp with rich harmonics.

On top you get an AA figured maple cap that pops under the Vintage Cherry Sunburst finish. It is all gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, so the guitar feels alive in your hands and will continue to open up as you play it. The cream binding frames the flame in a way that just screams classic rock on a big stage.

60s SlimTaper Neck And 12 Inch Rosewood Board

The SlimTaper 60s profile is that sweet spot where speed and substance meet. It is slim enough for fast runs and wide bends, but still has enough shoulder so you feel connected to the guitar instead of fighting it. Real talk, if you have ever loved a good 60s style Gibson neck, this will feel like home.

The rosewood fingerboard has a 12 inch radius and 22 medium jumbo frets, so bending up a whole step or more feels smooth and controlled. Acrylic trapezoid inlays and cream neck binding give you the vintage look, while the Graph Tech nut keeps things stable and buzz free when you dig in or work the tuners hard.

Uncovered Burstbucker 61s: Double Classic White, Double Trouble

The Double Trouble magic is in the pickups. You get a Burstbucker 61R in the neck and a 61T in the bridge, both uncovered with Double Classic White bobbins and Alnico 5 magnets. That uncovered design adds a little extra edge and articulation, so every note in a chord pops and lead lines cut with authority.

Clean, they are glassy with a sweet top end and tight low end that never turns to mud. Push them into an overdriven amp and you get that classic singing sustain, with enough grit to handle everything from blues to hard rock. Roll back your volume and they clean up without losing clarity, and the hand wired Orange Drop caps let the tone controls actually shape your sound instead of just dulling it.

Pro Hardware, Case Included, Limited To 500 Per Color

Hardware is pure Gibson workhorse spec: an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminum stop bar tailpiece, and Grover Rotomatic tuners with kidney buttons keep tuning and intonation locked in. Nickel hardware, cream pickguard and plastics, and gold Top Hat knobs with silver reflectors pull the whole vintage aesthetic together. It ships in a hardshell case and includes a Gibson accessory kit, so you are gig ready right out of the box.

This is not a forever-in-the-catalog model. Production is limited to only 500 guitars in each color, and each burst pattern is individually hand sprayed, so no two tops look exactly the same. Add our Player-Perfect setup, triple inspection, free 2 to 3 day shipping, and 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee, and you are looking at a killer limited run Les Paul that is dialed in before it ever hits your strap.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The Double Trouble keeps all the core Les Paul Standard 60s specs you want but adds extra vintage attitude. The Burstbucker 61R and 61T pickups are left uncovered with Double Classic White bobbins, which gives them a little more bite and a killer visual vibe. The Vintage Cherry Sunburst finish is a slightly faded variation of the regular gloss nitro, like a lightly aged 60s burst that has seen some stage lights. On top of that, production is limited to 500 guitars per color, so you are not seeing one of these on every stage in town.
Burstbucker 61s are Gibson’s take on a hotter, slightly more aggressive late 50s style voice. The neck pickup is clear and sweet without getting wooly, so chords stay defined and lead lines have a vocal quality. The bridge pickup has that classic Les Paul snarl with tight lows and a top end that cuts without turning harsh. They are super responsive to your volume control and picking dynamics, so you can live on the edge of breakup and ride your hands instead of always stomping on a pedal.
9.1 pounds is right in the classic Les Paul zone. That bit of heft is a big part of why these guitars sustain and bloom the way they do. With a good, wide strap it feels solid rather than punishing, and the way it balances on a strap makes long sets totally doable. If you are chasing that unmistakable Les Paul punch, this weight hits that sweet spot between resonance and comfort.
Production is capped at 500 guitars per color, and each burst is hand sprayed, so every top and fade pattern is a little different. The photos you are seeing are of this exact serial numbered guitar, not stock images. What you see is what shows up at your door, right down to the flame and the way the burst rolls off the edges.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
