Golden Era Les Paul Punch Without Vintage Headaches

This Les Paul Standard 50s is Gibson going all in on what made the originals legendary. Non weight relieved mahogany, carved maple top, big 50s neck, and a set of Burstbuckers that drip with classic PAF-style tone.

Solid Mahogany Backbone, Carved Maple Bite

The non weight relieved mahogany body gives you that classic Les Paul feel on a strap and the kind of sustain that just blooms and hangs. The carved maple top adds snap and clarity so your chords stay defined even when the amp is cooking.

Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer lets the whole thing resonate in a way thick poly never will, and the Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish looks like it stepped straight out of a late 50s catalog. Single ply binding on the top and fretboard pulls it all together with that unmistakable Gibson class.

50s Vintage Neck That Fills Your Hand

The 50s Vintage neck profile is substantial in all the right ways. It fills your palm so you feel connected to every bend and vibrato, but it is carved clean enough that long sets do not turn into a hand workout.

The bound Indian rosewood fretboard, 12 inch radius, and 22 medium jumbo frets make bending feel buttery without fretting out. Medium jumbo wire gives you enough height for precise intonation and wide vibrato without feeling clunky.

Burstbucker 1 & 2: Real PAF Flavor

Burstbucker 1 in the neck and Burstbucker 2 in the bridge, both with Alnico 2 magnets, are Gibson’s take on that early Patent Applied For magic. Neck pickup is warm and woody with glassy highs, perfect for blues lines, jazz chords, and fat cleans.

The bridge pickup hits that sweet spot of tight low end, rich mids, and singing top without turning into an ice pick. Roll the volumes back and it cleans up into a clear, chimey rhythm tone. Open the tap and you are in classic rock, blues rock, and hard rock territory all day.

Hand-Wired Harness With Orange Drops

Real talk: the wiring harness is where a lot of modern guitars cut corners. This one is hand wired with Orange Drop capacitors and audio taper pots, so your volume and tone knobs actually do something musical instead of just turning things on and off.

Two volumes, two tones, and a 3 way toggle give you all the classic Les Paul tricks. You can balance the pickups in the middle position, ride the volume knobs for gain, and still keep clarity and punch even when you roll things back.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

This Les Paul Standard 50s is built to capture the spirit of Gibson’s golden era: non-weight-relieved mahogany body, carved maple top, 50s Vintage neck, and Burstbucker 1 & 2 humbuckers with Alnico 2 magnets. You get the thick, vocal midrange and sweet top end people chase in vintage PAFs, with modern consistency, stability, and playability. It feels and sounds like a love letter to the late 50s without the five-figure price tag or vintage drama.
This specific guitar weighs 9.6 lbs. You definitely feel it as a solid, substantial Les Paul, not a featherweight, and that mass pays you back with sustain and punch. Notes bloom and hang on, chords stay focused when you turn up the gain, and the non-weight-relieved mahogany gives you that classic low-end authority. If you want that big, traditional Les Paul feel and sound, this weight is right in the sweet spot.
