Limited run Les Paul power with real vintage attitude

The Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble takes everything players love about the regular 50s Standard and dials up the vintage vibe. Solid mahogany, AA figured maple, uncovered Burstbuckers, and a slightly faded nitro finish all come together in a guitar that feels like a future classic the second you plug in.

This is not a dressed up studio piece. It is a straight ahead, non weight relieved Les Paul that hits that sweet spot between singing sustain, punchy attack, and rock solid tuning stability, ready for any stage or session you throw at it.

Solid mahogany body, AA maple top, no weight relief

The core of the tone starts with a solid, non weight relieved mahogany body and an AA figured maple top. You get that familiar Les Paul punch, thickness, and bloom, with the maple adding clarity and cut so your notes do not get lost in the mix.

At 8.9 pounds, it feels substantial without being a boat anchor. On a strap it sits right where you want it, and when you hit a big chord you can feel the whole guitar resonate against your ribs as the note hangs on.

Rounded 50s neck and rosewood board that feel broken in

The 50s Vintage profile neck fills your hand in a really satisfying way. It is meatier than a slim taper, but shaped so you can still move up and down the neck without fighting it, whether you are laying down chunky rhythm or wide vibrato bends.

A rosewood fingerboard with a 12 inch radius and 22 medium jumbo frets keeps things smooth and fast. Bends feel buttery, chords stay comfy up the neck, and the acrylic trapezoid inlays give you that classic Les Paul look. The Graph Tech nut keeps tuning stable and intonation true, even if you lean on big bends and heavy picking.

Uncovered Double Classic White Burstbuckers

Under the hood you get a Burstbucker 1 in the neck and a Burstbucker 2 in the bridge, both uncovered with Double Classic White bobbins and loaded with Alnico 2 magnets. They have that open, vintage flavored voice that lets every note breathe, from glassy cleans to thick, singing overdrive.

The bridge pickup has bite and grind for classic and hard rock, while the neck stays warm and buttery without turning to mush. The middle position gives you chewy, three dimensional cleans that record beautifully. Hand wired audio taper pots and Orange Drop capacitors keep the tone clear and expressive, so rolling the controls back actually gives you more colors instead of just dulling everything.

Vintage Cherry Sunburst nitro with subtle fade

The gloss nitrocellulose Vintage Cherry Sunburst finish is a vintage variation on the standard color. It is still full gloss, but the hue is slightly faded compared to a brand new 50s Standard, like a guitar that has seen a few years of honest play and stage lights.

Because each one is individually hand sprayed, the burst pattern has its own character from guitar to guitar. In person, it has that classic Les Paul look with just a touch of lived in attitude, and the thin nitro lets the wood resonate instead of feeling choked under a thick coat.

Limited to 500 per color and dialed in at Moore Guitars

The Double Trouble run is limited to only 500 guitars in each color, so you are not just grabbing another off the rack Les Paul. You are getting a very specific snapshot of Gibson doing the vintage thing right, with a look and spec set you are not going to see everywhere.

This exact guitar is the one in the photos, and it ships in its Gibson hardshell case with the accessory kit. Our seasoned techs give it a full pro setup, dialed for perfect intonation and comfortable action, and we will tweak it to your preferred string gauge and feel before it leaves the shop. It is inspected three times, ships fast with free 2 to 3 day shipping, and is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee so you can hear how it reacts with your own rig, risk free.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The Double Trouble keeps all the core stuff you want from a Standard 50s Les Paul: solid, non weight relieved mahogany body, AA figured maple top, 50s Vintage neck, classic hardware. The big differences are the uncovered Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups with Double Classic White bobbins, the slightly faded Vintage nitro finish, and the fact that it is limited to only 500 guitars in each color. You get the same proven platform with a cooler vintage aesthetic and true limited run bragging rights.
They are Gibson Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups loaded with Alnico 2 magnets, built to capture that lively, vintage style humbucker response. The bridge has bite and grind for rock and classic metal, while the neck is warm and buttery without getting muddy. Clean, they stay articulate and glassy. Pushed into overdrive, they bloom and sing with plenty of harmonic content, and they respond really well to your picking dynamics and volume knob moves.
Compared to a standard Cherry Sunburst, the Vintage version looks a little more relaxed and subtly faded, like a well cared for guitar that has seen a few years of play. It is still a full gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, just with a more broken in color palette instead of a brand new neon burst. Because each one is hand sprayed, the burst pattern and fade have their own personality, which adds to the limited run feel.
At 8.9 pounds with a solid, non weight relieved mahogany body, this one sits in that sweet spot. It feels like a real Les Paul on a strap, but it is not a back breaker. The extra mass helps the guitar ring longer and stay focused, so big chords have authority and single notes hang on with that classic Les Paul sustain. If you like a substantial feeling guitar that rewards you every time you lean into a note, this hits the mark.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
