Stripped-Down Les Paul Power With No B.S.
The Gibson Les Paul Special in Vintage Cherry is the straight-ahead rock machine a lot of us secretly want more than the fancy stuff. Slab mahogany body, fat 50s neck, dual P-90s and a gloss nitro finish that looks like a classic record sounds.
No flame, no binding on the body, no extra fluff. Just a lean, loud, responsive Les Paul that rewards good right-hand work and loves to live at the edge of breakup.
Slab Mahogany And Nitro That Rings Like A Bell
The slab mahogany body keeps things resonant, punchy and honest. You feel the note bloom against your ribs when you dig in, and the 7.8 lb weight hits that sweet spot of solid without being a boat anchor.
The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the wood breathe in a way thick poly just does not. Over time it will wear in, not out, picking up that played-in vibe that makes vintage Gibsons so addictive. The Vintage Cherry color is pure rock stage energy under the lights.
Fat 50s Neck That Makes You Play Different
The 50s Vintage mahogany neck is what this guitar is all about. It is a fat, round carve that fills your hand in a really satisfying way, so chords feel huge and bends feel controlled instead of cramped.
Pair that up with the rosewood fingerboard, 12 inch radius and medium jumbo frets, and you get smooth bends, clean slides and rock-solid intonation. The bound neck adds just enough class and a smooth edge under your thumb without pushing this guitar into “pretty boy” territory.
Dual P-90s: Grit, Growl, And Surprising Chime
Two P-90s on a slab mahogany Les Paul is a recipe for righteous noise. The bridge pickup has that snarling midrange that cuts through a band mix, while the neck pickup gets big, woody and warm without turning to mud.
Work the three-way toggle, individual volume and tone controls, and you can move from glassy, rolled-back cleans to thick, chewy overdrive without touching your amp. Hand-wired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors keep the response clear, dynamic and musical at every setting.
Simple Hardware, Rock-Solid Reliability
The wraparound bridge keeps the string path simple and direct, which you can hear in the immediate attack and sustain. Vintage Deluxe tuners with white buttons hold tune and complete that old-school look alongside the black 5-ply guard and black top hat knobs.
Nickel hardware ages gracefully, and the black switch trim, amber tip and jack plate details keep the whole thing looking like a proper working-class LP. Real talk, this is the kind of guitar you actually take to the gig, not baby on the wall.
Built Like A Classic, Ready For Real-World Use
Originally introduced in 1955 and based on the Les Paul Junior recipe, the Special adds a rhythm P-90, extra controls, neck binding and a three-way toggle for a much wider tonal palette. It keeps that raw, immediate feel that makes Juniors so addictive, but gives you way more sounds on tap.
This one is brand new with a hard shell case and Gibson accessory kit, and it has already been inspected multiple times here at Moore Guitars. You are looking at the actual guitar in the photos, not a stock image.
