Product Description

Lean, Mean Les Paul Power With P 90 Bite

If you love the feel of a stripped back Les Paul but want more than just one pickup, this Les Paul Special in Ebony hits that sweet spot. It is all tone, no fluff, with a slab of mahogany, dual P 90s, and hand wired electronics that reward every little nuance in your hands.

Slab Mahogany Body With That Classic Midrange Punch

The Les Paul Special was born as the working player’s Les Paul, and this one sticks to that recipe. The slab mahogany body and single cutaway design give you that familiar silhouette plus a dry, woody acoustic ring that turns into roaring midrange punch once you plug in.

The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer in Ebony is more than just a sleek look. Nitro is thinner than poly, so the body can resonate freely instead of feeling choked, and as it wears in it will only get more open and lively. At 7.3 lbs, this guitar sits right in that comfort zone where you get sustain and authority without wrecking your shoulder on a long set.

50s Vintage Neck That Feels Like Home

The mahogany neck uses Gibson’s 50s Vintage profile, so it fills your hand in a really satisfying way without feeling like a baseball bat. It invites you to dig in and play with intent, which is exactly what this guitar wants.

A bound rosewood fingerboard with a 12 inch radius and 22 medium jumbo frets gives you the best of both worlds. Chords stay comfy and controlled, but bends stay smooth and singing all the way up the board. Acrylic dot inlays keep the look classic, while the Graph Tech nut keeps tuning solid and the feel slick when you are bending and using the volume and tone controls.

Dual P 90s: Grit, Clarity, And Cut

The star of the show is the pair of P 90 pickups. The bridge P 90 barks with attitude, giving you crunchy rhythm and glassy top end that cuts without getting ice picky. The neck P 90 brings a rounder, thicker voice that still has definition, perfect for soulful leads, chunky riffs, and warm cleans.

Real talk, P 90s sit in that sweet spot between humbuckers and traditional single coils. You get more output and midrange push than a typical single coil, with more air and clarity than a humbucker. Hand wired electronics with Orange Drop capacitors keep the response open and musical, and the classic two volume, two tone layout plus three way toggle lets you dial in everything from snarling punk to smoky blues just by riding your knobs.

Wraparound Bridge For Sustain And Feel

The wraparound bridge keeps things simple but effective. With fewer moving parts and direct contact to the body, you get great transfer of vibration for sustain and resonance you can feel in your picking hand.

Vintage Deluxe tuners with white buttons keep tuning stable and look right at home on a Les Paul Special. Nickel hardware, a black 5 ply pickguard, black top hat knobs, and matching black plastics keep the whole guitar looking tough and purposeful.

Ready For The Stage, Studio, Or Practice Room

This guitar ships with a hard shell case and Gibson accessory kit, so it is ready to gig and travel right out of the box. The factory spec string set is 10 46, which keeps the feel balanced for both rhythm work and bending.

This specific guitar is the one in the photos, serial number 218850303, weighing in at 7.3 lbs. You are not guessing at what you will get. You are seeing the actual instrument that will show up at your door.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The Les Paul Special is the straight shooter in the lineup. You still get a solid mahogany body, set neck, and classic Les Paul feel, but the slab body and wraparound bridge give it a more immediate, punchy response. The dual P 90s have more bite and midrange grind than typical humbuckers, so it sits in a mix with more clarity. If you want fat, focused rock tones with a little extra edge and a lighter, more no nonsense feel, the Special is the move.
P 90s are single coils, so you do get some hum in certain rooms or under dirty lights. The tradeoff is the grit, punch, and clarity that only a good P 90 delivers. Most players find a little hum is a non issue once the band kicks in, and a simple noise gate or smart amp placement can tame the worst of it. If you love articulate gain tones and touch sensitivity, these pickups are worth it all day.
Yes. The photos on this page are of the actual Gibson Les Paul Special you are buying, serial number 218850303. We list the exact weight at 7.3 lbs, and there is only one of this specific guitar in stock. When you hit checkout, this is the one that gets packed up in its hard shell case and sent to you.
Modern wraparound designs like this are rock solid when they are set up correctly. You get great sustain and a very direct feel under your picking hand. Our techs dial in the intonation, action, and nut slots as part of our Player-Perfect setup, so it shows up playing in tune up and down the neck. If you change to very different string gauges, just let us know and we will set it up for that before we ship.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
