Stripped-Down Junior Punch With Nothing In The Way

The Gibson Les Paul Junior has always been about attitude first. One pickup, one slab of mahogany, and a whole lot of feel that hits you in the chest before the first chord is done ringing.

This newest Ebony Junior brings that Golden Era recipe into the modern age with rock solid build quality and stage ready reliability. No frills, no dead weight, just the sound that shaped generations of rock, blues, and punk.

Slab Mahogany Body, Gloss Nitro Attitude

The single cutaway slab mahogany body gives you that familiar Les Paul punch without the extra bulk. It is responsive and alive, with a focused midrange growl that loves to sit on top of a loud band.

The gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the wood breathe in a way thick poly never does, so notes bloom and sustain instead of choking out. Finished in deep Ebony and weighing in at 7 lbs 12.8 oz, it feels solid on the strap yet stays comfortable for long sets.

Vintage 50s Neck That Fills Your Hand

The vintage 50s neck profile is nice and chunky in the best way. It fills your hand so your wrist can relax, which is a big deal if you live on big open chords and wide vibrato.

A rich, unbound rosewood fingerboard with a 12 inch radius and 22 medium jumbo frets keeps bends smooth and intonation spot on. Acrylic dot inlays keep things classic, and the Graph Tech nut helps keep tuning stable when you dig in.

One Dogear P-90, A Lifetime Of Tones

That single bridge mounted dogear P-90 is the whole point of a Junior. It dishes out raw, biting single coil grind with rich harmonics that jump out of the amp, yet it can still clean up to glassy clarity when you roll the volume back.

The hand wired circuit with Orange Drop capacitors means the volume and tone knobs actually give you a wide, musical range instead of just on and off. Real talk, with a good tube amp and this one pickup you can cover most of a rock gig without ever wishing for a second pickup.

Golden Era Vibe, Modern Precision

Originally built as a student model, the Les Paul Junior turned into a working players secret weapon because of how direct and honest it feels. This current version pays tribute to that Golden Era vibe while taking advantage of modern manufacturing for consistency and reliability.

A wraparound bridge anchors the strings for rock solid intonation and plenty of sustain, while vintage deluxe tuners with white buttons keep everything locked in. It is a simple, time tested formula that just works night after night.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

You might look at one pickup and think “limited,” but it is the opposite. Wide open, the bridge dogear P-90 barks with rich harmonics and cutting mids. Roll the volume back and it cleans up to a glassy, articulate rhythm sound. Work the tone knob and that hand-wired Orange Drop circuit gives you everything from bright bite to thick, smoky leads. One pickup, a ton of usable voices.
If you are used to super-thin shred necks, the Vintage 50s profile will feel fuller. That said, the extra depth actually lets your hand and wrist relax, which is huge for comfort and sustain. Most players find that after a few minutes it feels natural, and a lot of them end up preferring the bigger carve for rhythm work and expressive bends.
It is the definition of straight to the point. Slab mahogany body, one dogear P-90, single volume and tone. That recipe gives you raw, powerful sound with zero distractions, so every nuance of your right hand and left hand comes through. If you like guitars that fight back a little and reward your touch, the Junior is hard to beat.
Yes. This Les Paul Junior ships with a hardshell case, so it is ready for the van, the studio, or the local club right out of the box. No need to budget for a case on top of the guitar.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
