Product Description

The Workhorse Feel With Rosewood Studio Shine

The J-45 has been the working player’s acoustic since 1942. This J-45 Studio Rosewood keeps that familiar round shoulder comfort and punch, then adds the deeper, glassier voice of rosewood and stage ready electronics so it feels like home and sounds like a record the second you hit a chord.

Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana with all solid woods, nitro finish, and a responsive Advanced Response neck, this one is built to live in your hands, not in its case. At around 4.9 pounds it is light, lively, and ready for long sessions on stage or in the studio.

All Solid Woods, Built In Bozeman

The solid Sitka spruce top with traditional hand scalloped X bracing gives you that classic J-45 punch with a wide dynamic range. Play soft and it stays clear and sweet, dig in and it pushes back with that dry, focused bark you expect from a great Gibson.

Rosewood back and sides, finished in satin nitro, add extra depth and complexity. You get rich, piano like lows, warm mids, and sparkling treble overtones that bloom and hang in the air, especially when you let big open chords ring.

Rosewood Body For Bigger Lows And Sparkling Highs

Compared to the traditional mahogany bodied J-45, this Studio Rosewood has a little more low end weight and a bit of glass on top. It still has that unmistakable J-45 mid push that sits under a vocal, but the rosewood gives you extra shimmer and detail that studio engineers love.

The full depth round shoulder body moves plenty of air, so it will keep up with a loud band or a hard strummer without folding up. Whether you are fingerpicking, flatpicking, or capoed high for worship sets, it stays balanced and musical.

Advanced Response Neck That Just Feels Right

The utile neck with the Advanced Response profile hits that sweet spot between slim and chunky. It fills your hand enough to feel solid and supportive, but it never fights you when you move up the neck or play extended sets.

A satin nitro finish keeps the neck fast and smooth, even under hot stage lights. The 16 inch radius rosewood fingerboard with 20 standard frets makes chords comfortable and single note lines smooth, so bends, slides, and quick runs all feel controlled and effortless.

L.R. Baggs Element Bronze For Plug And Play Tone

The L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under saddle pickup gives you a natural, wood forward sound when you plug in. It captures the warm mids and clear top end of the guitar without getting quacky or harsh, so it sits easily in a mix.

A simple soundhole mounted volume control keeps the top clean and responsive while giving you quick access to level changes on stage. The 1/4 inch endpin jack keeps the whole system tidy and ready for whatever rig you plug into, from a PA to an acoustic amp or interface.

Dialed In, Documented, And Ready To Go

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The classic J-45 recipe is Sitka on top with mahogany back and sides. This Studio Rosewood keeps the same round shoulder body and bracing but swaps mahogany for rosewood. You still get that familiar J-45 mid push and punch, with a deeper low end and more sparkling top. If you love the J-45 feel and vibe but want a slightly richer, more hi-fi flavor, this is it.
Rosewood adds more low end depth and upper harmonic sparkle compared to mahogany. You get big, piano like bass, a warm but clear midrange, and glassy highs that bloom and hang. It records beautifully and gives you extra dimension for solo acoustic work while still sitting nicely under a vocal in a mix.
Yes. The Element Bronze is designed to be plug and play. Run it straight into a PA, acoustic amp, or interface and you get a warm, natural sound that still cuts through a band mix. The soundhole mounted volume control lets you fine tune your level on the fly without extra knobs on the top of the guitar.
If you live on a J-45 style guitar for writing, gigging, or recording and want a little more depth and shimmer, this is in your wheelhouse. Singer-songwriters, worship players, and studio regulars will all feel right at home. It is also a great step up if you love your current J-45 but want a second flavor that still feels instantly familiar in the hands.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we will dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you are not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We will make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We will get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2 to 3 day shipping.
Call us at (888) 794-8482. You will talk to a real musician who can answer anything you need to know.
