The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Here is the lowdown. Vintage Hummingbirds have the mojo, but they can be wildly inconsistent, expensive, and sometimes fragile. This Hummingbird Original keeps the same Sitka and mahogany recipe, traditional scalloped X bracing, and nitro finish, but with modern Gibson build quality and LR Baggs electronics. You get the iconic look and voice with better reliability, playability, and tuning stability, and you do not have to baby it on the road.
The LR Baggs VTC is one of the few undersaddle systems that actually lets the guitar sound like itself. You get a warm, full range tone with good low end support, clear mids, and a smooth top that does not get harsh when you dig in. It handles fingerstyle and heavy strumming equally well, and the simple volume and tone controls inside the soundhole let you fine tune it for different rooms and rigs.
Yes. The 24.75 inch Gibson scale gives you a slightly slinkier feel than a typical long scale acoustic, which is great for bends, vibrato, and extended sets. Chords feel relaxed and easy to fret, but there is still plenty of snap for flatpicking and rhythm work. If you do a mix of fingerstyle and big open strumming, this scale length hits that sweet spot between comfort and response.
You get the Gibson Hummingbird Original itself, a fitted hardshell case, and the Gibson accessory kit. From our side, you also get a free pro setup tailored to your specs, triple inspection before it leaves the shop, and free 2 to 3 day shipping. Photos on the product page are of the actual guitar you will receive, serial number 21905160.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we will dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you are not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We will make it right.
In-stock gear typically ships within 1-2 business days (Mon-Fri). Most orders arrive in 1-4 business days via UPS Ground, depending on your distance from Indiana. We will get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2 to 3 day shipping.
