Iconic Hummingbird Power With Effortless Short Scale Feel

Open chords bloom, single notes sing, and the whole guitar feels alive under your right hand. This Hummingbird Original in Antique Natural takes that legendary Gibson voice and pairs it with modern build quality and stage ready electronics.

Square Shoulder Body With Power And Focus

Dreadnoughts are famous for volume and punch, but they can turn to mush if the low end is not controlled. The Hummingbird’s square shoulder body is designed to tighten up the bass, keep the mids present, and give every note a clear spot in the mix.

Think of it like choosing the right speaker cab for your amp. This body acts like a finely tuned sound chamber that gives you big projection without the woof, so strummed chords stay defined and fingerpicked lines do not get lost.

Sitka Spruce And Mahogany: The Classic Combo

A solid Sitka spruce top gives you that familiar shimmer on top with plenty of dynamic headroom. You can play softly and get air and detail, or dig in and the guitar just gets louder instead of breaking up.

Mahogany back and sides add warmth, punchy mids, and a sweet, singing sustain. Traditional hand scalloped X bracing lets the whole box breathe, so you feel the resonance against your chest every time you lean into it.

Short 24.75 Inch Scale For Buttery Playability

This Hummingbird runs the same 24.75 inch scale length you find on a classic Gibson electric. That shorter scale means softer string tension at pitch, which translates to an easy, forgiving playing feel.

The rounded mahogany neck fills your hand without feeling clubby, and the 12 inch rosewood fingerboard keeps chords comfortable while still letting bends glide smoothly. It is the kind of neck you forget about while you are getting lost in the song.

LR Baggs VTC: Plug In And Go

When you are ready to hit a stage or a studio, the onboard LR Baggs VTC pickup system has you covered. The under saddle element tracks the natural attack of the guitar while keeping the tone warm and organic, not quacky.

Simple volume and tone controls let you shape your sound on the fly without a big control cluster cut into the side of the body. Run it straight into a PA, an acoustic amp, or your favorite preamp pedal and you are ready for anything from songwriter rounds to full band gigs.

Built For A Lifetime, Dialed In By Our Techs

From the multi ply binding to the classic Hummingbird pickguard and gold Gotoh Keystone tuners, this guitar looks every bit as good as it sounds. Bone nut and saddle, Tusq bridge pins, and Gibson’s gloss nitrocellulose finish round out a build that will age beautifully as you play it.

Before it leaves our shop, it gets our full Player Perfect setup and a triple inspection so it arrives playing buttery and buzz free. Add the included Gibson hardshell case and accessory kit, and you are looking at a lifer acoustic that is ready for the road, the studio, or the couch the second you open the case.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

Dreadnoughts are known for big volume, but that can come with a boomy, unfocused low end. The Hummingbird’s modified square shoulder design tightens up the bass, keeps the mids clear, and gives you better dynamic control. You still get that powerful Gibson thump, but with clarity and separation so your chords and lines stay defined in a mix.
Most acoustics run a longer 25.5 inch scale, which means more string tension and a stiffer feel. The Hummingbird’s 24.75 inch scale is the same length Gibson uses on many of their electrics, so the strings feel softer under your fingers. Bends are easier, barre chords are less work, and long sets are way less fatiguing while still keeping enough snap for articulate rhythm playing.
The LR Baggs VTC is an active under saddle system that tracks your attack and dynamics really well. You get a warm, natural acoustic tone that sits nicely in a mix without that harsh, brittle piezo edge. With simple volume and tone controls, you can quickly tame bright rooms, push a bit more midrange, or sit perfectly in a band mix without wrestling with an onboard preamp full of knobs.
Absolutely. The square shoulder body and scalloped X bracing give you plenty of punch and projection for big open strums. At the same time, the responsive Sitka top, mahogany warmth, and shorter scale make it very touch sensitive for fingerstyle and lighter right hand work. It is one of those rare acoustics that can cover songwriter nights, worship sets, and studio sessions without feeling like a compromise in any lane.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
