Stripped Down, Cranked Up – Classic Junior Bite

The Gibson Les Paul Junior is proof that you do not need a forest of pickups and switches to make serious noise. Slab mahogany, one angry P-90, and a rock solid bridge give you that raw, unfiltered tone that made so many records you love.

This TV Yellow beast is light on frills and heavy on feel. It is the kind of guitar that rewards good hands, cleans up with your volume knob, and snarls the second you lean on it.

Slab Mahogany Body, TV Yellow Attitude

The single cut, slab mahogany body hits that sweet spot of punchy midrange and natural sustain. It rings loud even before you plug in, which is why it feels so alive through an amp.

The gloss nitrocellulose TV Yellow finish is pure old school vibe. Nitro lets the wood resonate more freely than thick poly, so notes bloom and decay in a really musical way. You are also getting a lightweight, stage friendly guitar that will not wreck your shoulder on a long set.

50s Vintage Neck That Fills Your Hand

The mahogany neck uses Gibson’s 50s Vintage profile, so it has a nice handful of wood without feeling like a baseball bat. It keeps your fretting hand relaxed and stable, whether you are digging into big open chords or bending up high.

A 12 inch radius rosewood fingerboard and 22 medium jumbo frets keep bends smooth and intonation solid all the way up the neck. No fighting the guitar, no choking out your vibrato, just a comfortable, broken in feel that invites you to keep playing.

Single P-90, Infinite Sweet Spots

One P-90 dogear, hand wired with Orange Drop capacitors, is all you need here. It has that perfect mix of grit and clarity, with enough bite to cut through a band but enough warmth to keep things musical.

Roll the volume back a touch and it gets glassy and articulate. Push it into a good tube amp and you are in classic rock, blues, or punk territory without touching a pedal. The simple 1 volume, 1 tone layout keeps you focused on playing instead of knob chasing.

Wraparound Bridge, Rock Solid Hardware

The wraparound bridge gives this Junior a direct, snappy attack and great sustain. Fewer moving parts means less to rattle, less to go wrong, and more of your picking energy going straight into the body.

Vintage Deluxe tuners with white buttons hold tune with zero drama, and the nickel hardware, black guard, and black top hat knobs keep the look unapologetically old school. It is a workhorse you can drag to any gig and trust.

The Lowdown

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The Standard gives you carved maple, dual humbuckers, and more switching. The Junior is all about simplicity and feel. The slab mahogany body and single P-90 give you a more immediate, raw response with huge midrange punch. If you want versatility from a control layout, go Standard. If you want a direct connection from your hands to the amp with less stuff in the way, the Junior is hard to beat.
P-90s are single coils, so there is some hum, especially with more gain. The tradeoff is the grit, bite, and clarity that humbuckers just do not do the same way. Real talk, if you are playing ultra high gain metal, this is not the right tool. For classic rock, blues, punk, and garage with moderate to hot gain, a good noise gate or smart muting technique is all you need, and the tone payoff is worth it.
Absolutely. That is the whole magic of a good Junior. Set your amp on the edge of breakup, then ride the volume and tone controls. Turn the volume down a bit for clear, chimey rhythm parts, roll it up for crunchy riffs and solos, and use the tone knob to go from cutting and bright to thick and smoky. It forces you to play the guitar like an instrument, not a switchboard.
This one clocks in around 7 pounds 14 ounces, which is on the lighter side for a solid body Gibson. The slab body and simple hardware help keep the weight down and the balance is great on a strap. It is the kind of guitar you can wear for a three hour gig without thinking about your shoulder the whole time.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 14-Day Return Policy. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
