Made To Measure ’57 Les Paul With Serious Custom Shop Firepower
This Gibson Custom Shop ’57 Les Paul Standard M2M is what you spec when you know exactly what you want from a Les Paul. Candy Red gloss on a classic 2-piece maple top over lightweight mahogany, P-90 in the neck and an unpotted Custombucker in the bridge, all clocking in at a very gig friendly 8.6 pounds.
It feels like a vintage LP that has been hiding in a case for decades, but with the consistency and reliability of a brand new Custom Shop. Pictures are of the actual guitar, inspected three times and ready to leave our Evansville shop.
Candy Red Classic With True Historic Bones
The 2-piece plain maple top over a 1-piece lightweight mahogany back is the heart of that singing Les Paul voice – fast attack, rich mids, and a low end that stays tight when you crank the amp. The hide glue rim construction and 2019 GT finish help the whole guitar feel alive against your ribcage when you dig in.
Candy Red gloss on top with 2019 GT back and rims gives you a custom look that still reads vintage Gibson from across the stage. True Historic plastics and cream top binding tie it all together so it looks like a boutique refin of a killer late 50s LP.
P-90 Neck, Custombucker Bridge: One Guitar, Two Attitudes
The Custom Shop P-90 soap bar in the neck is all about chewy mids, glassy top end, and that piano like clarity on the wound strings. Roll the tone back and it gets smoky and vocal for old school blues lines and jazz chords.
Flip to the unpotted Custombucker bridge and you get open, airy PAF grind with plenty of cut and bloom. It snarls when you hit it with gain, cleans up with your volume knob, and never turns to mud. The middle position is pure studio gold – P-90 clarity plus humbucker girth that sits in any mix without fighting the vocal.
’58 True Historic Neck Feel
The mahogany neck with the ’58 True Historic profile fills your hand without feeling like a baseball bat. It gives you something solid to lean on for bends and vibrato, but the shoulders are comfortable enough to play long sets without fatigue.
The 1-piece Indian rosewood board and Jescar fretwire keep everything smooth and precise. At 24 3/4 inches, the scale length keeps the feel slinky under the fingers so big bends and wide vibrato feel almost effortless, even with slightly heavier strings.
Vintage Correct Hardware And 2019 CPA Wiring
Under the hood you get 2019 CPA wiring with PIO capacitors and vintage taper pots, so the controls respond like an old burst wired by a tech who cared. You can actually use every notch of the volume and tone controls to shape your sound instead of just running everything on 10.
Nickel hardware, an ABR-1 non-wire bridge, and a lightweight tailpiece with long studs keep the feel authentic and the resonance wide open. Kluson reissue tuners, True Historic knobs, rings, pickguard, and plastics pull the whole package together for players who obsess over the small stuff as much as the big stuff.
