The Myth, The Legend, The Moderne
Behold one of the holy grails of Gibson lore, the 1957 Mahogany Moderne Reissue. This isn’t just a guitar; it’s a piece of history, a mythical design from the late ’50s brought to life by the Gibson Custom Shop. Crafted from solid, resonant mahogany and finished in a nitrocellulose VOS with a Vintage Patina, this instrument feels like a time capsule the moment you open its historic Lifton case. It’s a guitar that was so far ahead of its time, it’s only just now finding its true place in the hands of players who dare to be different.
Raw, Unpotted Tone
At the heart of this beast are a pair of unpotted Custombuckers with aged Alnico 3 magnets. This is where the magic happens. The bridge pickup delivers a raw, articulate bite with plenty of midrange grind that cuts through a mix with authority. The neck pickup is pure buttery warmth, perfect for glassy leads and full-bodied chords. With no wax potting to dampen vibrations, these pickups are exceptionally responsive to your touch, capturing every nuance of your playing with breathtaking detail.
Authentic ’50s Feel
From the first time you grab the neck, you know this guitar is something special. The ’50s Vintage profile is a comfortable, substantial handful that feels just right, while the one-piece Indian Rosewood fingerboard is smooth and inviting. Every detail is period-correct, from the hide glue fit of the set neck, which enhances resonance and sustain, to the authentic ’50s no-tube truss rod. The hardware, aged with a VOS gold finish, completes the picture, giving this guitar the look and feel of a cherished vintage original. This guitar is in excellent condition and has never been played, but was damaged in transit.
