Product Description

1973 Strat Energy Without The Vintage Headaches

What made those early 70s Strats show up on every late night TV stage and album cover? Big headstocks, bright and snappy ash bodies, and that unmistakable chime that cuts through any band without getting harsh. This Limited Edition American Vintage II 1973 Stratocaster nails that recipe from the first unplugged strum.

You get period correct ash, a large 70s headstock with bullet truss rod, a 3 bolt neck plate with Micro Tilt, and a set of Pure Vintage 73 pickups, all wrapped in Olympic White that looks like it just time traveled out of a Don Kirshner broadcast. Real talk, it feels like a clean vintage find that somehow skipped fifty years of mystery repairs.

Ash Body, Olympic White, Pure 70s Attitude

The ash body gives you that crisp attack and piano like low end that made 70s Strats the go to for funk, fusion, and rock. At 7.8 pounds this one hits the sweet spot, light enough to wear for a three hour set, solid enough to ring and sustain when you lean into it.

The gloss polyurethane Olympic White finish looks slick under stage lights and shrugs off the kind of dings and sweat that would have a nitro finish crying for mercy. Paired with parchment plastic and aged white details, it has that slightly mellowed look that feels broken in without any fake relicing.

1973 C Neck That Feels Instantly Familiar

The 1973 C profile neck is a comfortable handful, not a baseball bat and not a shredder toothpick. It fills your palm just enough so you feel connected to every bend and vibrato, whether you are copping Hendrix double stops or tight Nile Rodgers style rhythm work.

A 9.5 inch radius maple fingerboard and medium jumbo frets make bends smooth and controlled without fretting out, while still keeping enough of that vintage feel under your fingers. The bullet truss rod and Micro Tilt neck plate mean quick, precise tweaks to relief and angle without a trip to the shop, so you can dial the feel exactly where you like it.

Pure Vintage 73 Pickups With S 1 Secret Sauce

The Pure Vintage 73 single coils are all about glass and grit. The bridge pickup has that bright, cutting voice that slices through a busy mix, but it is tuned to stay musical instead of ice picky. The neck is round and vocal with just enough warmth for bluesy leads and mellow chord work, and the middle ties it all together with that classic Strat quack.

The 5 way switch gives you all the familiar positions, then the S 1 switch sneaks in extra flavors by adding the neck pickup to positions 1 and 2. That means a fatter, more complex bridge tone that gets into almost humbucker territory while still keeping that Strat clarity. It is a killer one guitar solution for cover gigs and studio sessions where you need more than the standard three single coil sounds.

Vintage Trem That Stays Out Of The Way

The American Vintage synchronized tremolo with cold rolled steel block gives you the feel and tone of a great old Strat, from subtle shimmers to soulful dips. The 6 screw mounting keeps the response snappy and direct, and if you are a hardtail type you can always deck it and enjoy the extra sustain.

Pure Vintage Fender F stamped tuners, dual wing string trees, and nickel chrome hardware keep everything solid and in tune so you spend more time playing and less time fighting your gear. The included ash tray bridge cover is a cool nod to 70s vibe, whether you leave it on for looks or keep it in the case.

Limited Run, Player Ready From Our Shop

This is a limited edition take on the American Vintage II formula, built in the US for players who love genuine 70s feel but want rock solid modern build quality. Olympic White over ash, big headstock, 3 bolt neck, S 1 wiring, and that 7.8 pound weight all add up to a Strat that feels like a lifer the second you plug in.

Photos are of the actual guitar, serial V16476, sitting in our Evansville shop right now, inspected three times and set up by real players before it ships. You get our full Player Perfect setup, fast free 2 to 3 day shipping, and a 72 Hour Love It Guarantee so you can hear how it reacts to your amp, your hands, and your band.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

This one leans hard into the early 70s vibe: ash body, large 70s headstock with bullet truss rod, 3 bolt neck with Micro Tilt, and Pure Vintage 73 pickups, all in Olympic White. On top of that it gets the S 1 wiring for extra tones and a very gig friendly 9.5 inch radius with medium jumbo frets. It feels and sounds like a great vintage Strat, just without the sketchy refrets, swapped parts, and sky high price tag.
The S 1 switch simply adds the neck pickup into positions 1 and 2 on the 5 way selector. In position 1 you get bridge plus neck, which is a thicker, more complex version of the classic bridge sound. In position 2 you get bridge, middle, and neck together for a big, chimey wall of single coil tone that covers a lot of ground on its own. It is a subtle but super useful upgrade for players who need one Strat to do everything.
Set up right, a good 3 bolt neck is rock solid. Fender designed this with a tight pocket and the Micro Tilt system, so the neck is firmly anchored and easy to fine tune. The benefit is that you can adjust the neck angle without shims, which makes dialing in your action and trem feel faster and more precise. We check neck fit and stability as part of our inspection so you are getting a guitar that is ready for serious gigging.
The gloss polyurethane on this neck has a smooth, slick feel rather than a sticky, grabby one. The 1973 C carve is a comfortable medium thickness that works for thumb over players and more classical thumb behind styles. Once you play a couple of tunes on it, it just disappears in your hand and lets you focus on the music instead of the neck.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
If you order before 3 PM CST on a weekday, it ships the same day. We’ll get it into your hands fast with free, insured 2-3 day shipping.
