Product Description

Texas Grit, Modern Playability

This isn’t your grandpa’s Telecaster, unless your grandpa was a stone-cold tone chaser who demanded modern performance. This Fender Dealer Exclusive American Ultra II Telecaster is a masterclass in blending classic vibe with contemporary feel. The Antique Olive finish gives it a unique, road-ready look, but under the hood, it’s a high-performance machine built for today’s player. With a set of Custom Shop Texas Specials, this guitar has all the bite and twang you could ever want, plus a whole lot more.

Roasted Maple Neck & Compound Radius

The first thing you’ll notice when you pick it up is the incredible feel of the roasted maple neck. Roasting the wood increases stability and gives it a played-in, resonant character right out of the box. The Modern “D” profile is pure comfort, while the satin finish feels fast and smooth. Add in the 10″-14″ compound radius fingerboard, and you get effortless chording down low and choke-free bending up high. It’s a neck that just begs to be played.

Custom Shop Texas Special Power

At the heart of this Tele is a pair of Fender Custom Shop Texas Special single-coils. These pickups are overwound for increased output, giving you a fiery midrange punch and tight, clear bass. The bridge pickup screams with classic Tele spank and sizzle, while the nickel-covered neck pickup delivers warm, glassy tones perfect for rhythm or soulful leads. They clean up beautifully but are more than happy to push your amp into glorious overdrive.

Versatile S-1 Switching

For an extra dose of tonal versatility, the volume knob conceals an S-1 switch. This handy feature activates series wiring, combining both pickups to create a thick, humbucker-style sound. It’s a fantastic tool for beefing up your solos or adding some extra muscle to your rhythm parts, making this Tele a true sonic chameleon.

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Anatomy of a Tone Machine

Perfect for: Blues • Rock • Country • Indie

Tone

  • Bridge pickup is all about that overwound Texas sizzle, with a punchy midrange and scorching output that cuts through any mix.
  • Neck pickup offers a clear, warm, and glassy tone with bell-like clarity, perfect for fat rhythms and articulate leads.
  • In the middle position, you get that classic Tele quack, combining the warmth of the neck with the bite of the bridge for a spanky, funky sound.
  • Extremely responsive to your pick attack, cleaning up nicely with a softer touch and getting aggressive and gritty when you dig in.

Playing Feel

  • The classic Telecaster body shape feels balanced and familiar, comfortable for hours of play whether you're sitting or standing.
  • The Modern "D" roasted maple neck with its satin finish feels fast and effortless, while the compound radius makes both chords and solos feel natural.
  • This guitar feels alive in your hands; the resonant alder body and stable roasted neck translate string vibration beautifully.
  • Designed for long sessions, the comfortable neck shape and modern playability features reduce hand fatigue.

Versatility

  • Goes from sparkling clean to mean and overdriven with ease. The Texas Specials have enough output to drive an amp hard but retain clarity at lower volumes.
  • Loves pedals. The clear, punchy voice of the pickups provides a fantastic platform for fuzz, overdrive, and delay.
  • A studio dream. The classic Tele sound, enhanced with the S-1 switch, gives you a wide palette of tones for tracking.
  • Cuts through a dense mix without being harsh. The pronounced midrange ensures your parts are always heard.

The Lowdown

We get it. Buying a guitar you haven’t played is a big decision. You need to know it’s going to feel right, sound right, and inspire you the second you open the case. We put together the questions we’d be asking if we were in your shoes—the real-world stuff that specs alone can’t answer. If there’s anything else you’re wondering about, just give us a call.

The S-1 Switch, located in the volume knob, activates series wiring for the pickups. This runs the two single-coils together like a humbucker, giving you a fatter, louder, and warmer tone that’s perfect for driving solos or thick rhythm playing. It’s like having a secret turbo boost on board.
Roasting the maple neck removes moisture from the wood, making it significantly more stable and resistant to changes in humidity. Tonally, it adds a bit of snap and clarity, reminiscent of a vintage, well-played neck. The feel is fantastic, it’s smooth and fast thanks to the satin finish.
Of course. Every guitar gets our full Player-Perfect™ setup, but tell us your preferred string gauge and action at checkout, and we’ll dial it in exactly to your spec before it leaves the shop.
This guitar is covered by our 72-Hour Love-It Guarantee. If you’re not completely inspired by it, just let us know. We’ll make it right.
Orders ship same day in most cases and arrive within 1-4 business days with free, insured shipping. We’ll get it into your hands as quickly as we can.
Call us at (888) 794-8482. You’ll talk to a real musician who can answer anything you need to know.
